My Room -<-<-@

Hi everyone!

You're all so inspiring here :). I recently moved back home for graduate school in literature/folklore and I wanted to redo my childhood bedroom so that it reflected more of my personality as it is now. Some things had to stay around for sentimental/space reasons but I'm overall really happy with how it turned out. I tried to make it into a magical, mystical faerie bedroom... I hope I succeeded, it certainly makes me happy!

The above is the view as you're walking in the door - notice the cat with the book on the door! I love cats with books :P.

This is what you see once you're inside, my bed, etc. I've had this bed since I was quite small! It's kind of huge and amazing :).

View as you're coming around the corner...

And then all the way inside, looking to the left. Notice the gorgeous and huge tapestry of "La Belle Dame Sans Merci", my favorite Waterhouse painting :). There are dried roses hanging in the windows.

The view if you're standing on the other side of the bed (that yellow pillow is my Mom's from when she was in college!)

Now for some more detailed shots...

Right side wall...

Detail of part of the wall, rose and berry vine hair clips, feather clips....

Below that is my altar-ish area. Everything on here symbolizes something special to me - faerie with book glamourkin pendant, twilight/dawn, nightingales, cats, foxes, labradorite and other stones and crystals, roses, books, ink, angels, leaves, Artemis pendant, sand from my beach in Florida, unicorns, crows, pumpkin scented candle, incense, and more. It's very dear to me :).

Farther back image of the altar/desk and wall.

And the wall space above, big Paris picture, a little picture of the main building at Sarah Lawrence (my undergraduate college), and a beautiful antique rose painting my sister got for me.

You can't see it because it's behind the door and I forgot to take a big shot of it, but this is a small bit of my packed bulletin board. Love that little unicorn scroll (it came with a toy!), the "Venice or Here" photograph is from part of the Conservatory Garden in Central Park NYC, one of my favorite places in the world.

Close up of one of the spaces on that big wooden shelf... the little faerie cat in that picture looks so much like mine!

Farther down the wall, my grandmother made those unicorns when I was quite small and I love them :). Also notice the wings and the "Lady and the Unicorn" tapestry that I bought from a street vendor in Paris :).

Bookshelf on this wall, stuffed animals, wooden chest! The silver mask is from Venice and the big mirror was my grandfather's :).

Close up of the bookshelf on this wall.

Another view of the bed... those big pillows are actually zabutons (floor pillows from Japan) that my ex-boyfriend's mother gave me. I love them desperately :). There are some more of them over on the floor beneath the tapestry (you can see them in another pic below!)

I've got a bunch of these roses wrapped around the top of my bed - they're made out of book pages so they're beyond perfect for me :P. Made by RagnazIdnar on etsy.

Another pic from a different angle.

The foot of my bed, little fox stool, scarves, vintage chest, and boxes of magazine cut outs and saved articles.

Closet... unicorn mirror w/ witch from Slovakia, purple faerie lights, moons, etc. etc. (I'd show you the inside but it's like an explosion in there :P.)

Close up of the little purses hanging on the closet doors.

Another shot of this side of the room and the tapestry, etc.! You can see more of the zabutons on the floor in this shot, plus masks on the wall, bags, more animals, little rug, etc.

The bookshelves on this side of the room... notice the abundance of faerie/fairy tale books, etc.! Also big amethyst chucks as bookends... I found these recently and just love them. There's another one on my desk (pic below.)

A fairy tale scholar hard at work :). School bag (with "The Lady of Shalott"!), school books and notebooks.

The little table in the corner (more books, big hour glass ($14 at TJ Maxx!) and other little things.)

My desk! You can also see the medieval-y mirror beside the window and beside that my vase of my fake rose collection... beyond that (which I don't seem to have a good picture of oddly? It got covered by the chiffony stuff on the top of the bed in the one picture of this side of the room) is this big, awesome picture of an x-rayed rose. I've got a thing for roses, I'm sure you can tell :P.

Stuff on the left side of my desk... candles, big chunk of amethyst, roses, etc.

Stuff on the right side of my desk... seashell lamp made from shells from the Siesta Key beach... love that little bird on the lamp, he came on a package I got from Etsy! It's hard to make out but there's another picture of cats reading books and Jack Kerouac's "Belief and Technique for Modern Prose" taped to the dresser (love this.)

On the far wall by the window... more masks and a little curiosity cabinet of tiny things. My grandparents brought me the brown mask from their trip out west but I'm not sure exactly where it's from. It's completely gorgeous up close though.

And, of course, no room of mine is complete without a cat :). Here's my fluffy Maine Coon, looking out over our snow covered lawn from that far side window.

Thanks for looking! Let me know if you have any suggestions or anything :).
