Well, I've been procrastinating in doing this for a while, but I know that you all would be interested in knowing how Gretchen's cats are doing. It started out rough, with the two of them hiding behind the TV and growling at us. But after a few days, they got used to us. Gus was the first to come around, which was prompted by simply sitting quietly with him for about an hour. He jumped up on the couch and ended up in my lap. Meece too quite a bit longer, hiding upstairs for a couple of days, until we convinced him that he should eat something. Tuna seemed to be irresistable for him, and Kevin made progress quickly with him after that. The two are now lying on the bed with our other cat, Nochmi. He's a lot smaller than them. They have been squabbling a little about who gets to lay where on the bed, but Nochmi stays well clear of all of that! He's a bit more skittish than they are.
Anyway, I'll post more as needed about their adjusting to life here on the farm.
