Journalfen Concerns

Well since my rather short and clearly biased plea for journalfen, a lot of people responded with issues and perceptions they have about journalfen. I thought rather than leave it spread out on two posts I’d consolidate, and hopefully be able to add solutions to some of the issues.

My biggest problem with JF is that registration is always closed. :/

You have a JF already, don't you? If not, go to leavin_eljay. Anyone with a paid account can go to priority support and request a journal or themselves or their friends - at any time.

Nope, I don't have a JF account. I've been checking since the last LJ kerfluffle and each time the JF site said "no new accounts right now."

OK: join leavin_eljay and decide what name you want (ook?), give an email and let one of us get you an account. Lets just get you started on JF!

I'd probably do GJ before JF, though I have accounts on both. I dunno. I rarely post fics on my blog anymore. I'll do the wimpy wait-and-see thing.

I hope to still see you on here; I'd be sad 'cause I spent a hellva lot of money and time and effort making it known that I don't appreciate the way lj is treating its paid customers. I'm gonna stick it out. Thanks for the advice though! *grins*

I think we can do both - I dont want to loose my LJ - I mean I've had it AGES and I'm fond of it. But I want to have options.

I know they killed certain links for various reasons - best bet would be to forward this to them. You're a paid account holder, so you can post your support issues to the prioritysupport community. In my experience that gets immediate attention.

In GOOD news, I got the metafandom accounts from Robin, so we can hopefully get thos up ;)

Power went out in the Bay Area around 2ish. It was a freak thing and PG&E have been working on it. Try it again?

I thought about going over to JF after the last kurfluffle, and had I have friends over there, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about getting one. Every time I look into it, it seems as if they aren't taking new members.

One of my major problems with JF is that they have neither tags nor post tracking, and both are really useful features. I crosspost from my LJ to IJ and GJ for backup and reader convenience, and I am wary of 6A, but I don't crosspost to my JF account ever since I stopped in 2004 or so because LJ just had the better features.

Oops, I somehow skimmed over you already listing these. But really for me some features are more than just some nifty extra.
