Okay.
Well, seeing as we're so "ignorant", pray tell, what exactly defines a "real fan"?
I've never been to one of their shows. I've never even been to Korea. I've never written a fanletter. However, I do own three
SuJu CDs (including M),
one poster and the
photobook. All of which I bought with real money to support the group (with the exception of the poster, which was a gift). Liking the group has caused me to have an
unnatural obsession with
raccoons. I dedicated thirteen weeks of my life to
making icons out of episodes of one of their shows. In fact, the most common tag on my icon journal is
Super Junior. Even more than H.O.T, if you can believe it. I've even caused my previously non-SuJu loving friend
Andrea to dress up like Ryeowook
for Halloween after getting her to watch the movie, which she now loves and
imitates often (clip also cut out by me for her). I've helped more people into the fandom than I can count, some of them right here on my friends list. We also had a
litter of kittens that I named after Eeteuk, Kangin, Hyukjae and Donghae (Donghae is on the right, but you guys might now know her as
Lulu ^^).
But no. I'm not a "real" fan. Why? Because I'd rather spend my time enjoying them on a more personal level by naming kittens and making graphics and watching videos with friends and impacting my view of raccoons in general, like I did with monkeys and Tony, instead of spending all my money buying everything with their name on it and waiting in long lines to get into a show and protesting my beliefs outside the SM building?
Personally, I believe that if a person likes one song by them that they downloaded off a random website, it makes them a fan. A fan on the same level as me and on the same level as you.
