pt.3 It was growing darker by the time Yunho reached his new apartment and mind you, his first ever apartment as a human inhabitant. He hummed a tune, pacing himself smoothly to suit the adjustments to his newly found environment and especially his body. His right leg felt limp and painful for every step he took, considering what he did earlier in his first day of school.
During school hours, after he followed the immersed delicate creature out of the library-his clumsiness got the best of him for a brief moment when his longer-than-average human legs tripped over nothing and tangled themselves together, leaving him on the floor with a bloody bruise on his knee. Clutching onto his knee from time-to-time, he tried to make it less aching by walking slower and unfortunately, he didn’t bring any of his healing devices with him. He could have healed his injured knee in mere seconds but no-he just had to leave it behind and inside his spacecraft on the other side of the outskirts of town.
Not only that, he lost the pertaining subject, the beautiful creature, when he stumbled upon the floor and laid there with his injured knee throbbing for attention. He groaned again, the pain shooting up his spinal cord and his nerves shaken into bits by the shivering cold wind.
He found his apartment after a few more blocks of slowly steadying himself with one leg, per se, his unharmed one. Reaching the door number he received after renting the room, he reached into his pockets in search for the keys.
After fumbling through his pants pocket for a few minutes, he found himself empty-handed and switched to the next pocket. Then, he checked through his back pocket, next his backpack, to his shoes and even his socks and still-he didn’t find it.
He lost his keys.
Yunho sighed and for the first time that day, he dreaded ever disguising himself as a human in the very cold unwanted night of his human apartment. Also, leaving almost all of his worthy devices in his apartment instead of taking them with him. His leg was burning with excruciating pain, while his eyes suddenly became blurry and even the wind was picking up to welcome him into deep slumber. He slid across his door, his feet giving in to his weight and dragging him onto the floor as his eyes began to close on him.
He stayed like that for awhile and he could barely feel his cold face.
Just when he was about to close his eyes completely, somethi-- someone kicked him.
It hit his injured right knee, fortunately hidden underneath a glamour; although, his pain was immediately waking him up by every instant second. The burning sensation coursed through his chilling bones and he flinched at the arrival of two tall pair of human legs, which were not, indeed, the ones attached to his own but standing before him instead.
“Excuse me, can you please move? That’s my door you’re sitting in front of.” The long-legged earthling spoke deeply and as a matter-of-fact.
Sheepishly, Yunho turned his gaze higher to the earthling and took a very good look at the tall figure from his schooling uniform, then all the way to his face. The face was roughly round but sharp, straight nose, un- amused eyes and predetermined lips that spelled a straight line. It was indeed and interesting sight and the alien could do nothing but continue to stare at the earthling’s figure in astonishment.
The earthling sighed after waiting a few minutes for Yunho to move, who didn’t seem to budge at all from his request. “Hello, are you deaf? Could you please stop staring at me like I’m some kind of bug behind glass and move? I’m cold and I want get inside already.”
Yunho wasn’t sure anymore if he was standing in front of his apartment door or this earthling’s door. Either way, he didn’t have his key and he was undeniably going to be stranded outside in the cold airy night until his aching knee would suddenly heal and his fuzzy mind would clear soon. However, it didn’t seem like any of that would happen soon because his eyes began to drift into closure and he could only hear the faint shouts of the earthling calling for him to ’wake up, don’t sleep’ with some groans thrown into his sentence.
His mind went black.
:
It was around eight when Jaejoong arrived back home to his shared apartment. The night sky was already dark, the street lights beamed on every few blocks to guide anyone still roaming the streets.
His duties at the library were very hectic, especially after he found more students having sex at the corner of the library, moaning their cries as loudly as possible in a very quiet environment.
Thus, the not-so-very-fortunate student assistant that he is-he had to clean off the “mess” the couple made, which may include some worn out clothes and an unknown substance sticking onto the school property, staining library books and shelves. Just thinking about the scene gave him the shivers and the fact that he had to clean that up. Ugh. People these days.
Shaking off the thoughts, Jaejoong entered his apartment and headed straight for his room. He noticed the lights were still on, meaning his roommate, Changmin was already home and probably still eating his dinner; hence the kitchen lights are still on.
Once he entered the kitchen, he immediately went to wash his hands off to scrub all of the bacteria from his working “area.” His roommate was seated at the table, eating some leftovers from yesterday.
“Hey, hyung. What took you so long?” Changmin asked, eating a mouthful of rice.
Distress, Jaejoong sighed. “People doing it in the corner.”
“Free Porn.” His roommate muse.
“So not. How would you like to clean fresh sticky cum off books and shelves?”
“I won’t. I can’t even eat food in there.”
Jaejoong grunted and rolled his eyes. He walked to the living room, deciding to leave his hungry roommate with leftover and refusing to cook anymore for tonight.
Once he switched the lights on, he saw a body laying there. Surprised, he jumped with an unmanly yelp and stepped back until he was leaning against the wall, almost having a heart-attack. His breathing labored as he watched the lump motioning evenly as if sleeping and a purple blanket wrapping around its form.
It moaned and stirred, making Jaejoong flinch. He stood still on the wall, holding his breath and imagining that he is one with the wall. Therefore, he should be able to blend with the wall and hide from this notorious lump on their couch.
Still shocked and overly paranoid, Jaejoong tip-toed away slowly and watched the body carefully until he reached the kitchen once more.
He turned to his roommate, who just finished his meal. “C-Changmin, did you bring anyone?” He whispered. “There’s someone sleeping on our couch.”
Fear evident in Jaejoong’s voice, it was clearly reasonable because they have a strange, unwelcome guest sleeping on their couch.
“Sort of.” His roommate simply answered. “He was sitting in front of our apartment door and shivering. Then he knocked out so I had to bring him in.” He scratched his head nervously.
Jaejoong stared at Changmin for a few seconds as if he was waiting for him to burst out laughing and tell him it was all a joke. Clearly, the original Changmin wouldn’t do such a thing, but this one could? He must be lying or imagining things.
“Really? You had to bring him in?”
“What? I can’t just leave him out there in the cold. I don’t even know where he lives.” Changmin argued.
“Uh huh.” Jaejoong muse. “So, basically you brought a stranger into our apartment who could potentially murder the two of us when he wakes up and we’d be buried alive in the backyard.”
“Oh c’mon, he’s wearing the same uniform as you.” Changmin rolled his eyes. He got up and pushed Jaejoong into the living room, both now watching the purple lump. “I doubt he will kill us for keeping him warm. He’s probably not a stranger if you know him too.” The roommate pointed.
Nervous, Jaejoong’s fear started to creep into him again. He pushed the thoughts away, attempting to keep it to himself because… what if he really did know the person? It could just be one of his classmates or Junsu maybe. He stared at the purple blob, which was now laying still. The figure’s legs were quite long and there were some snores heard underneath the blanket.
Ok, maybe it’s not Junsu. But who?
Hesitantly, the blond student touched the tip of the blanket, attempting to get a grasp over it. His roommate stared on at his movements and nudged him impatiently to move the covers quickly so he could go to sleep with nice dreams and not fear from a potential killer or classmate. It was getting pretty late after all.
Gulping, Jaejoong slid the blanket carefully off the body and stopped when it stirred and pulled onto the blanket again. Jaejoong’s hand became frozen and he didn’t bother to move the blanket again since his first attempt was a failure.
Changmin sighed. “Just move it already.” Removing the covers to reveal the sleeping classmate.
Jaejoong gasp and a groan follow soon after.
There was no one there.
