Settling-in
The new computer is beginning to work out nicely. Of course, I've been messing about with it...the nice thing about linux is that you can tweak it in an infinite number of fairly trivial ways, not really break anything, and come out with ever more interesting ways of doing things.

I've been playing around with the gdesklets, having followed the directions in this howto. While I'm willing to concede that its miles behind Apple's Dashboard I'm reasonably satisfied with how things have been going. Maybe soon I'll replace Metacity with Enlightenment as suggested by this howto
