DXing in traffic
Circumstances had me driving to & from the Metro rather than cycling Tuesday. On the way back from the Metro in the evening, I decided to see how I could do, DX'ing on the AM band using the stock radio in my Malibu.
At night around here it isn't unusual to pick up all the New York AM stations--WCBS comes in clear as a bell, for instance. I've even been able to pick up WGN out of Chicago...but imagine my surprise when I twiddled the knob and heard French at 690 KHz AM--a faint signal from Québec! (I also picked up a French-language station at around 820 KHz AM). !
I might have to try this more often.
