I totally forgot to post about it, but if you recall my previous entry about the British Museum's Hadrian exhibition...

They've put up the Antinous video! WATCH IT - the whole thing ends tomorrow! Come on, it's just three minutes ( Read more... )

Here we have a wonderful statue of Antinous as Osiris from the Vatican.
Said the the one who was interviewed... From the Vatican? NO! the irony! XD

And the exhibition is over by tomorrow. I'm totally envious of people who were able to see it.

Actually, YES. The Vatican has a whole collection of beautiful Antinous statues like this. I still haven't figured out whether they don't know who he was or they're just such hypocrites. Or maybe there are some people there who actually appreciate this part of history? Anything's possible...

Same here. If only it had started earlier or ended later. /whining

Antinous is just gorgeous. I know I'm much more interested in women, but I can't deny he made quite an affect on me even as a statute. :D
Let's say they're hypocrites since that would suit them better. Or they're just been oblivious about the fact that he was Hadrian's lover and proclaimed it could be a lie. *eyeroll*

Indeed. Look at the statutes they're talking about in the videos. I want to draw them so much!

He has that rare Universal Appeal, even after all these years!
I fear that's the more probable case, yeah. But then they don't know what they're missing.

I'd like to see whatever you come up with! Ah, inspiring art...

I read some more stuff about him this afternoon. Oh, I love his story. This will make a perfect synopsis for a wonderful film, don't you think so? *hint hint*

I really should have a try. After all, I'm supposed to be able to reproduce any kind of art...

More like I hope so. If they mess it up, I'm going to be very very angry. But hey, read the book!

There's no pressure... XD

But of course there should be a book! *headdesk* I'm always thinking ahead about the visual concept rather than the writing concept. Ah, artists. xD

I know - it's just... I think I've got a crush now on Antinous. OH MY. XD

The movie is supposedly based on the book, you know. XD

Oh, I get it! XD

*g* yes, I got a lot confused by the first comments I made; first I thought there was an original film as for Hadrian's life, and then I finally understood that you referred to the movie adapted by the novel written by Yourcenar. XD

I'm fearing about the actor who's going to play the part of Antinous, though. Do you know of there's a definite cast yet? I can't seem to find teh right information for the film so far.

Aw, sorry about that. Good thing it's sorted out now!

I'm a bit worried he might look too old for him already. But hey, if it's not some awful sanitized "adaptation" again, I'm willing to overlook things...

:))

This is precisely why I fear about the film. Being politically correct. Again.

Exactly. That would be just too depressing for words.
