Wow, a little over two weeks since I have so much as scribbled here. It is my sincere hope that you, my readers, will accept my apologies for this. I was engaged in a favored pastime of mine which I rarely have time to engage in while I am in school.

No, not that. Nor that. No, not that one either. Actually...I think that one is only legal in Jersey, Utah, and parts of Kentucky, and I am fairly certain that you need at least one goat to do it justice.

Anyway, before your mind labels me capable of any more obscure perversions, (I only did that once and I needed the money really bad) perhaps I should just tell you what I have been up to the fortnight past.

I was reading. Before someone points out that I read all the time during the semester let me be more specific. I was reading for pleasure. I may have written this here before but reading is one of my most cherished hobbies. When all other entertainments fail me I can always transport myself to another world for a few hours with a good book.

As to why it took me two weeks, well that's easy explained as well. I didn't just read one book, I read four. Over 2000 pages all told. I had developed quite the back list of titles during the school year and now that I have a bit of free time (haha) I decided that the best thing for it was to sit down with a few good books. Such as:

Heroics for Beginners - Off the shelf fantasy, but if you need something to do for a couple of hours...

Night Watch - It's Discworld. What, you haven't heard of Discworld?! Oh you poor, poor soul. I recommend starting with oh say...Going Postal.

Fool - Latest Christopher Moore novel. Absolutely filthy, but hilarious. It takes a poke at Shakespeare.

Anathema - This was the cherry on top. Ok, a thousand page cherry, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Neal Stephenson's latest novel. It's incredibly rich and complex. Very much hints of Crypotonomicon, but also some of his early work. If you have never read anything by him you owe it to yourself to go pick up a copy of Snow Crash. Just accept that you won't understand what's going on the first time through. Just sit back and enjoy his gift for visual imagery.
