I communicate in spasms and ejaculations,
and shuddering legs, crying from every piece of skin.
You don’t know if you’ve slept with me before,
I change my face to conform with your expectations.
The fog outside the window was stolen by rusty cadillacs
counting the streetlights as they went off,
and I look in between your legs for an answer to the darkness
but I only find shivers, huff puff and blow your house in.
Falling asleep together we enter cocoons.
Emerging hours later, mostly the same but a little different.
Rainbows drained the clouds of excess color.
roygbiv waterfalls depositing the spectrum
in a place just beyond our vision.
Our figures intertwine and intentions written in stains
will soon be forgotten in the washing machine.
We don’t really feel each other, we feel what we feel
but I sense you there waiting to collapse, you’ve been bruised by thoughts.
Avoiding words, I speak to you in breaths
a spiderweb of lost air draped over my fingertips.
I shoplifted permission to become shipwrecked in your bed
and as you mumble in your sleep I inhale your words
and closing my eyes,
I exhale my response.
