Title: Aerophobia
Pairing: Suho/Sehun
Rating: G
Length: ~1200
Prompt: EXO-K in London
Notes: Most definitely written for CJ's SuHun feels. Somewhat edited... I apologize for the somewhat awkward progression of their relationship. I wrote this so long ago though, so I don't think I'll be editing it more? Consider it practice in writing..

Though they had been rooming together for a couple of months now, Joonmyun and Sehun had never been especially close. Sehun preferred the company of Jongin, who was closer in age and, frankly, much more fun to be around. Joonmyun was just a little too serious and really did act more like Sehun's grandfather than he wanted to admit. Of course, Sehun understood why Joonmyun had to be serious, what with having to be in charge of five rambunctious guys and trying to maintain order in the dorm, but that didn't mean he wanted to experience it more than he had to.

Sehun opened the door of his shared room with Joonmyun. Noticing that the lights were off, he walked over to his side of the room as quietly as he could. He changed quickly into his pajamas, plopping down on his best for a good night's sleep before having to leave for Londong the next day. As he shut his eyes and started to imagine how exciting visiting London for the first time would be, he heard Joonmyun clearing his throat from the bed opposite his.

Joonmyun spoke softly, barely audible to Sehun. Sehun strained to make out his words.

".... far away" Sehun wasn't able to tell what Joonmyun was trying to say.

"Hyung?" Sehun also wasn't used to private late night talks with Joonmyun. Usually, they would both fall asleep the moment their backs hit their beds after hours of grueling dance practices and vocal lessons.

“London is really far away…” Joonmyun repeated, loud enough for Sehun to hear, but still not louder than a whisper.

Sehun nodded at first, before realizing that Joonmyun couldn’t see him, so he answered, “Mm”

“What if……….” Joonmyun hesitated. Sehun turned over to face Joonmyun’s side of the room, and found a pair of dark eyes looking straight at him.

“What if the plane crashes?”

Sehun was surprised at Joonmyun’s concern. “Hyung, we’ve already traveled to many places by plane since debut. We even went to the US, which is farther than London”

“I know.. I was afraid that time, too.” Sehun could hear the fear in Joonmyun’s voice. He had never seen this side of their leader before. He wondered why Joonmyun never said anything about being afraid of plane rides, but he figured that as the leader, he probably didn’t want to seem childish with his fear of plane rides. He also figured that Joonmyun probably didn’t say anything before they went to L.A., because he probably had someone else… maybe Kris to reassure him. Sehun wasn’t sure exactly how to comfort the person who always comforted others.

“It’s okay, hyung. I’ll make sure you’re safe, okay?” Sehun knew how childish and cliché that sounded, but he hoped it would help pacify Joonmyun’s fears to know that he would be there for him.

Joonmyun didn’t respond for a couple of minutes, leaving Sehun a little embarrassed at his comment but also wondering if Joonmyun had fallen asleep

“Okay..” Joonmyun turned over onto his back and pulled his covers up to his chin. Sehun didn't press the issue. He laid staring at Joonmyun for a few moments more, thinking about how strong Joonmyun had always acted, yet Sehun never realized that he must also have had his own doubts and fears. He never would have imagined their “fearless” leader to be afraid of plane rides though. Sehun turned over onto his back, after noticing that Joonmyun had already fallen asleep, and let himself drift off to sleep.

At the airport, Sehun remembered his promise to Joonmyun, and specifically asked the manager ahead of time if he could sit next to Joonmyun. Their manager, who usually sat next to Joonmyun in order to discuss plans and schedules, reluctantly agreed, giving in to Sehun’s aegyo.

As they boarded the plane, Sehun hurried over to Joonmyun, telling him that he would be sitting next to him. Joonmyun, who wasn’t used to Sehun wanting to spend time with him outside of their room, was a little puzzled at Sehun’s declaration.

“I told you I’d make sure you were safe, remember?” Sehun whispered to Joonmyun, not wanting the others to hear. Joonmyun flushed a little at Sehun’s comment, but he couldn’t help smiling.

Sehun noticed when Joonmyun tensed up as the plane was leaving the runway. Sehun put his arm around Joonmyun and pulled him closer to him. He felt Joonmyun relax a little, but he didn’t let go until about an hour later when Joonmyun had to get up to use the restroom.

For the first half of the plane ride, they chatted about various topics like their dances, or their sunbae Super Junior’s comeback. Sehun never realized how easy it was to just talk to Joonmyun. He smiled, realizing that he had always faulted Joonmyun for being so serious, but he actually wasn’t that serious unless if he had to be.

It was in the middle of talking about some ridiculous prank Jongin had tried to pull on Kyungsoo the other day that Joonmyun started to nod off. Somehow his head ended up on Sehun’s shoulder, and he was snoring lightly. Sehun chuckled a little, noticing how cute their leader looked when he was sleeping. He also apparently had never noticed until then just how small Joonmyun was. He smiled, happy to have been able to be Joonmyun’s “guardian” for once.

After their “intimate” plane ride, Sehun found himself enjoying Joonmyun’s presence more. Jongin looked a little disappointed that Sehun wasn’t spending as much time with him, but Sehun just shrugged and gave Jongin a hug as a half-apology.

As they were walking down the streets of London, Sehun would casually sling his arm around Joonmyun’s shoulders. He realized that Joonmyun was actually the perfect height for this, though he didn’t say this aloud, because he knew that Joonmyun was always a little sensitive about his height. Sehun wasn’t sure why, but Joonmyun wrapped his arm around his waist, and it made Sehun’s heart skip a beat.

They found themselves in front of an especially beautiful fountain, and the other members had all made a fuss about taking a picture in front of it. The staff told them to go sit on the edge of the fountain, so they could take a picture and post it up for the fans later. Sehun, who had reluctantly released his hold on Joonmyun, sat down between him and Kai. Seeing the staff still in the middle of fixing their trifolds, he took the opportunity to pull Joonmyun into his lap. Sehun noted how light Joonmyun was. Joonmyun yelped, surprised at the movement, but then smiled and slung his arm around Sehun’s shoulder as Sehun wrapped his arms around Joonmyun’s waist.

The staff finished their preparations and snapped a couple of photos. The rest of the members jumped up from the fountain, excited for further adventures in London. Sehun didn’t want to let go. Not at all. In fact, he pulled Joonmyun closer to him, even as Joonmyun was nagging him about having to catch up with the rest of the members and the staff. Sehun quickly pecked Joonmyun on the cheek before letting go of Joonmyun and quickly walking away in the direction of the other members, a deep red blush forming on his cheeks.

Joonmyun was a little surprised at Sehun’s sudden affection during the trip, especially when he received a kiss on the cheek from their adorable maknae. He was happy to finally have connected a little better with Sehun though. He ran up behind Sehun, grabbing hold of his left hand, pretending not to notice the blush on Sehun’s face, and smiled widely up at Sehun.
