I'll never be a pan-'shipper, though I will have secondary 'ships I like. But in every fandom I've been in, I've had a OTP that stayed that way throughout, for me.

Exactly! People who write one story with Brian/Justin and then another with Ben/Justin just freak me out. Someone else once said it's okay if it's just sex or part of an agsty plot that is eventually resolved, but don't ever try to tell me it's true love when it's not my OTP! And ITA!!

That's not the fault of any fans - it's the fault of TPTB.

Oh, man, TPTB in any fandom just suck royally. I guess that's why I wasn't into true slash until recently (debate of QaF as slash elsewhere, yawn) because it was hard for me to go against the canon pairing of TPTB. If I got Buffy/Angel crammed down my throat in every episode, I had a problem reading stories about Angel/Xander.

But Stargate was easy for me because with the no fraternizing in the military rule, there isn't any real canon romance between the characters and I can let my imagination run wild with all the "don't ask, don't tell" innuendo between Daniel and Jack. Rowrr...

Also, the lack of anymore interference from TPTB of 'dead' fandoms is probably why I've suddenly become such a pan fandom slut. I have a loose grasp of the basic storyline of a lot of them, even if I wasn't a diehard fan when they aired, so when someone like yourself makes a good case for their OTP I can totally get into it because the actual canon stuff (like Ezri and Ziyal getting between the G/B lovefest) just goes right over my head. Ignorance really is bliss.

And again to reiterate your original point, I may be a pan fandom slut, but I'm not a pan shipping whore. I ship one OTP hardcore in any fandom. ;)
