Pairing: Yongguk/Himchan.
Length: Drabble.
As they are driving to the beach, the wind is blowing through the open roof of the car. It is a sultry evening, the air smelling of salt and sand. Yongguk looks to his right, where a man with bleached blond hair is sitting in the passenger’s seat. His sunglasses are too big for his small face. Himchan smiles at him, then stands up. He rests his arms on the windshield as he puts his bare feet on the red leather seats of the old car. “Drive faster!” He yells over the gushing wind, spreading his arms. His over-sized shirt blows in the wind, his hair clashing against his cheeks. Yongguk hits the pedal harder, the car speeds up with a loud sound. The ocean slowly ripples on the other side of the cliff, but they hardly pay attention to it. This is the feeling of freedom; adrenaline pumping through his veins as he stands on the leather chair, facing the edge of the cliff. Himchan rests his hands back on the windshield as Yongguk makes a sharp turn to go down to the beach. They don’t care enough to park the car, so they drive all the way over the beach. It is completely empty. Yongguk opens the porter, and then the trunk. Himchan just jumps off the seat, onto the warm sand. The grains tickle his toes. He goes off first while taking off his sunglasses to get a better view of the sun almost nearing the horizon, walking on the warm sand. Yongguk takes it a little bit longer as he searches for a place on the beach, where they could sit comfortably. He finds a spot and puts down the stuff they’ve taken with them. Meanwhile, Himchan has already reached the shore. He walks into the water, until it reaches to his knees. It is so wonderful here. It isn’t the first time they’ve gone here. But this is the first time near sunset, which makes this occasion more special. He looks back at the beach, where Yongguk is putting down his stuff and then sits down, pulling his knees up and resting his arms on them. The sky turns slightly golden, the waves slowly break on the shore. Crests form on the deep blue water. Small fish swim around his feet, their slippery scales slipping over his skin. Himchan can feel the calm washing over him. Along the shore are a lot of shells, some inhabited by small sea animals. There are a few buckets on the beach, some still filled with water or sand. It is such a nice sight, that he loses himself in it for a while. That is, until he hears the sounds of a guitar. He turns to face the beach, his hair immediately blowing around his face again. His earrings clink against each other. He slowly walks out of the water, trying not to look like a clumsy five year old being held back by the waves. It’s supposed to look calm, a strong adult on an empty beach. But he trips anyways, and he plunges forward into the sea, only just able to catch his fall. Yongguk’s low laugh rumbles over the beach. The man stands up from where he is seated on the sand to help Himchan up. The blonde washes his hands in the water, rubbing them dry on his shirt. Yongguk has already taken off his shirt, his toned abs shining under the golden rays coming from the sun. They walk back holding each other’s hand. “It’s pretty nice here.” Yongguk says, helping Himchan sit down, before he falls onto the sand and embarrasses himself even more. “It is.” They sit in silence after that, only the sounds of the waves and Yongguk’s guitar filling the beach. The sun slowly makes its way to the horizon, turning the sky red and orange with a hint of gold. Himchan lies down slowly, resting his head on his hands. The guitar sounds die out shortly after his body hit the sand. He can feel that Yongguk lies down too, and he reaches out his hand to intertwine their pinky fingers. “Himchan?” Himchan makes a low sound in his throat to answer him. “You know I’m leaving soon, right?” A sharp sting goes through Himchan’s body. He’s tried to keep those thoughts at the back of his mind, but Yongguk is soon leaving and there isn’t a way to postpone it any longer. “I want to make this memory last forever.” He says, and Himchan nods. Yongguk takes out a Polaroid camera. They make a few photos, and Himchan does his best to smile, but he can’t really help the tears forming in the corners of his eyes as he thinks about a time without Yongguk. “I promise to come back.” The man says, pulling him against his chest and putting his arms around him, kissing his lips softly. “It’s only for a while.” Of course it is. Himchan breathes out against Yongguk’s bear chest, his lips brushing over the hot skin. The chest under his cheek heaves up and down in a steady rhythm, but Yongguk’s heart is beating fast. The sun has died down by the time they’ve controlled themselves enough to lay side by side with weak smiles on their faces. The stars shimmer above them, the sand and wind cool down.
Himchan looks at the Polaroid photo between his fingers. He had found it in a box somewhere in the back of his room. It was full of Polaroid photos. The one in his hand is of him and Yongguk, lying on the beach their faces covered in a tan from being outside a lot. It was made during sunset, judging by the orange lightning. He turns the Polaroid photo over, on the back is a date with some words scribbled next to it. ‘Summer ’09, let’s make it last forever. - Yongguk’ He feels a sharp pain in his chest and he can distinctly remember a warm feeling. It once again rises up in his body, heating up his entire being. The whole happening comes back to his mind again. “Himchan, are you coming? My parent can’t wait forever.” He rubs a tear away and puts the Polaroid photos back in the box carefully, making sure none of them are crumpled. “I’m coming, Jongup.” He shouts over his shoulder, placing the box in the back of the wardrobe under some shirts.
a/n: should be read with Rock Me - One Direction on the background. But since most kpop fans are not big One Direction fans, you don't have to. I hope you liked this little drabble. I'm writing another story, which is now over 22.000 words long, but I'm not yet finished, so this is a sort of waiting story. Or something...
