Well the last time I posted was December.... So...
January- I did "Showtune" at Hofstra. I've become obsessed with Jerry Herman. His shows, his life, everything is so interesting. Bob got us signed autobiographies by Jerry himself! It's an amazing book. Ironically called "Showtune", weird, huh?
-I also got in hardcore with rehearsing for Zombie Prom (Middle School Mon/Wed), and Mattress (High School Tues/Thurs)
-Andrea got me obsessed with [title of show]. If you know nothing about this show... go to www.titleofshow.com it's absolutely amazing, and hysterical! You'll laugh your ass off! I promise!
Feb- Signed on as Choreographer of "Breakin Up is hard to Do" at CM. Great cast. Amazing in fact. Meanwhile, Since there is not a lot of choreography, I decide "hey! I'll be stage manager too!".... Did not know what I was in store for though.
-Also cast a teen production of "Pippin" at CM. Another great cast! Still rehearsing in fact!
-I also stopped working at the GAP because I knew my schedule was going to be hectic in the weeks coming... So my exact words were "Do you want me to quit? or keep me on staff, but let you know when I will be available, which should be mid April?" They said "Let's keep you on and schedule you for mid-April." Great!
MARCH- In full force now with the school shows. My days were swamped with high school and middle school kids. It's great though. I really love them.
-I got cast in the Ensemble of Blood Brothers at Airport Playhouse. I honestly just wanted to do the show to work with Steve again. I had a good time in Lucky Stiff years ago, so why not? Whatever. Good show. Great Cast.
-Auditioned for Jesus Christ Superstar at CM... only want to play King Herod. That's all.
-Found out on March 10 that the director of "Breaking Up" had to drop it, since there was too much going on with him. I don't blame him, but that left me Directing, Choreographing, AND Stage Managing... I know. Lots going on. I had a couple of breakdowns. I was frustrated, I took out anger on people I shouldn't have, and I've learned my lesson. The show opened on March 28, and it's running until April 20th. Amazing cast. Cute show. Not the best script, but a few toe tapping songs and amazing voices.
APRIL- Zombie Prom on Tuesday and Wednesday, of the same week that Mattress is Thursday, Friday Saturday. How am I going to do this? Well, Zombie Prom was only 1:15. We cut a lot since it's a middle school. So since the show started at 7, I would get there for the 2nd act of Mattress (How Elaine Stritch of me, I know), and give them notes and yell at them.
-Zombie was ADORABLE! The kids were great, and the four leads really got the "tongue in cheek humor" which is wonderful. I'm going to miss them dearly!
-Mattress, in my opinion was AMAZING! The leads were perfect, and the kids ended up having a really great time with it. I'm gonna miss a lot of the seniors. It's so weird being on the "other side" of the tracks. Seeing everyone crying and getting cards and flowers and letters that you used to write yourself and organize yourself in High School.
-It's fulfilling though. After seeing two finished products of what you yourself had helped organize and put together is one of the most amazing feelings in the world. I cried at every show! It sounds stupid I know, but I know this is what I am going to do with the rest of my life, and it feels great. Andrea, thank you so much for letting me be a part of it, it means more to me than you can possibly imagine.
-In the meanwhile...
* I am rehearsing for Blood Brothers (which opens in two weeks)
* I am in Rocky Horror at Airport this weekend (Friday & Saturday at "11:30" which means we are starting at Midnight.
*Pippin is still rehearsing. That opens the week after Blood Brothers closes. It's coming along nicely.
That's all for now! Andrea and I are thinking of shows to do for next year. Any ideas? Please let us know! Get it over with now! We might go to Chicago to Broadway Costumes and look at what they've got. When the real reason is to see the "Isle of La Grande Jatte" painting! Hah!
p.s. WHERE THE FUCK IS GREY'S ANATOMY!!? LET'S GO ABC! I MISS MY KISS UPS!
