Natalia detested meetings like this.
It wasn't the date itself that she hated- though any meeting with someone who wasn't her brother was far from wonderful. Rather, she hated that her every movement was watched by chaperons, trusted retainers of the Braginsky family that made sure no ill will came to her.
And so, dressed in her finest, she had been escorted to her outing with Rosemarine. She held a cup of tea in her hand, careful not to get any on herself- it was her favorite dress, the one that Katya had helped her to design. Her servants stood in a corner, a discreet distance away from their conversation, but still close enough to observe everything that went on.
She hated small talk. After several minutes of silence, she still had not spoken. Glancing over her shoulder, Natalia recognized a look from one of her servants- Talk to him, or we will tell your parents. That was one thing she didn't want to happen; her parents would be displeased at best, and violent at worst.
"How has your day been?" Natalia forced herself to look back to Rosemarine and feign interest. Two more hours and this will all be over.
