Pete Returns - Hero or Bust?
In my opinion, of which I'm entitled, BUST. I've read all over the net about people 'missin' Pete' and wish he were back, but I thought Pete's attitude toward Clark was annoying back when he was a regular in Clark's smalltown life.
He wasn't an iota different, any more grown up mentally even though the rest of our characters have changed so much. Yah, he's a little more jaded now, but everything spoken through his lips was already said, way back when. I just felt regurgitated on. And to rid my mouth of that bitter taste, what do I reach for, but STRIDE gum. Yah, that's the ticket. NOT! Could the product not have been pushed further down my throat? I'm gagging on it.
Okay, so maybe Pete kind of grew up a little right at the end, but honestly, he did that when he left Smallville, to get out of Clark's long, dark shadow... yada yada...
And the whole episode left me WANTING for the next, so, I guess the writers did their jobs, making me want more. However, just to look at that epi all by itself? It just seemed that, a buildup for what's to come. No meat, no meat at all. Fluff. One cannot live on fluff alone, although I try from day to day with these darn Girl Scout Cookies. Don't get me started. *rolls eyes*
The whole Lexara thing is WAY TOO similar to the Lexana of last year. Last year, I just wanted to shake Lana and scream at her for how foolish she was being. This year, with Kara, well, did anyone else just fall back and fold your hands in disgust? Been there, done that. Is that all Lex is good for?
My favorite scene in that whole epi was right at the end: Clark strutting his long legs across his barn to the beat of that cool music. It was so smooth, and talk about long, drink of water...? Gah, I was knocking stuff over looking for my glass of ICE water. Whoo!
So, what am I looking for and will be disappointed the writers don't fulfill? 1. That talk between Clark and Lionel about keeping the bracelet and renewing my skepticism in Lionel's purpose. 2. Kara finding out Lex is being, well, Lex, coming to her senses and laying one alien-powered womp on his bee-hind! 3. Lana, Kara and Jimmy disappearing; there are too many 'girls' on the show right now. 4. Lois reappearing sans a boyfriend to be extra-marital with. 5. Oliver Queen returning to save the day for Clark and whisking Chloe off her feet, setting Watchtower up to be his permanent aid! 6. TC! Whoo-hoo, I cannot WAIT for the promised TC in 'Traveler'! Clark kidnapped and tortured, sign ME UP! But then, who will be there to pick up his broken red and blue pieces? The thought makes me cringe. Couldn't Martha come home for just ONE weekend?
Okay, I'll calm down a bit. Can't wait for Thursday!
