Okay, there were a lot of disturbing images in this episode. From bullets being yanked out of Dean Cain's chest by his own fingers to him dragging a body wrapped in bubble wrap like a big present, a knife cutting into Chloe's skin. But then to hear Lex claim he was going to put the body through a shredder? Yikes, I'm not sure if my kiddos will be watching it or not.
What disturbed me more than anything was the lack of focus on Clark. He was the synapses between all of the other characters, even Lex, who's been disconnected a lot lately. That's all Clark was tonight, a high-speed zip between all ofthe people and aliens in his life. How boring. How frustrating.
Frustrating even more was the fact that we had storms roll through here this evening and my recording was overplayed with soundbytes of a weather man warning us of storms in the area. Of course, once I watched the episode, the storms were long gone, but so were a couple scenes' worth of dialogue. Grrr!
Am I just tired of Chloe's saga or was tonight's episode just annoying? I was feeling less than sympathetic for her than I thought I should. I can see she's making decisions to protect her secret just like Clark has had to all his life. She's feeling his pain. Lana is snooping on Lex, aw jeeze, please spare me. That may be a logical stop after their demise, but I found it to be annoying as well. "No Clark, I'm not keeping secrets from you." Mr. Mars is going after Kara. Um, where was he the last 2 weeks while she worked her way into Clark's heart? And speaking of the last two weeks, where's Ms Lois been? (Please don't get started on that new irritating editor) Too much estrogen on the show at once, I guess, could mess with Clark's head worse than his monumental secret.
So, where are we going with this? Chloe is on a fast train to moving away in search of a new purpose, they certainly made it clear she's lost her reporter mojo. Of course, she lost that last year when she told Lois to NOT go after Lex, but that was last year. Jimmy is going to have company with Kara, 'cause both of them are alone and like each other. Lex is still after meteor patients, but he's growing a conscience, as seen with the other CK, Mr. Immortal. What about Clark? Is he gonna spin his wheels around Smallville and Met all season, fighting with his emotions as to being with a mortal or not? I think he needs a serious sit-down with one of his parents, oh wait, no, that's right, his parents are gone. GONE. He has a new mom now to cook him blueberry pancakes and accept everything alien about him. No problemo.
Then again, maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just depressed and frustrated. If I were a drinking woman, I'd be heading to the fridge about now. I think I'll just go to bed and listen to the lastest wave of storms rolling through. And hope the tornado sirens aren't needed.
