I completely understand the fear of Starhawk... The Spiral Dance was a total turn off to me.

It turned her off, too, twenty years later. She put out a 20th Anniversary addition with footnotes explaining and in some cases repudiating her own words. She talked about what she'd learned, where she was coming from then and now... it was wonderful.

Her book Webs of Power: Notes from the Global Uprising (2002) is the best book I've ever read about weaving together spirituality and politics. It's about being a witch and an activist - some extremely powerful stuff.

These days she's all about inclusive, eco-friendly pagan activism.

She is MUCH mellower now about all that. She just looks like a normal kinda frumpy middle aged Jewish woman. Not very threatening at all in person.
