When leaving to get groceries today i noticed some refuse next to our car. Our parking spot in under an overhang at the end of the building and so is in a corner up against a couple walls. Things get stuck there when the wind blows but one of the items was a small cooler so I guess someone just dumped some things there. A couple kids Valentines cards were on the ground and they looked old. I made a plan to gather it up and put it back in the trash when I got home.
When I got home the cooler was gone but a small box was still there. On examination it contains dozens and dozens of birthday, valentines, christmas and other cards from the late 1950s to late 1960s. Some have the date penciled on them. They seem to have belonged to a woman and include cards from her first birthday onwards.
I'll check the building's register for her name and post a note in the laundry room in case they are something she wants back, although the parking garage next to our car (a spot away from any other vehicle)was an odd place to leave them.
A mystery indeed.
