In the interest of verifying my continued existence:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5.Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag three people...das erspar ich mir und euch

Well, since of the two books in my bag, only one goes to page 123, here we have:

Onion-seed, however, is very inferior after the first year, and worthless after the second. When old seed is to be used, it should be previously tested by sowing a counted lot in a hot-bed or other suitable place, and counting the number of plants that come up, and noting the vigor of the plants; the plants from old seed are usually less vigorous than from fresh seed, and sometimes are so week as to be worthless.

Damn. I think that's even more random than such things usually turn out for me. (That's from The Kitchen Gardeners' Guide, Berg, Donald, J., ed., by the way.)
