Part of UD Plagiarized on FF.N & AO3!!!

May 05, 2011 19:50

It has just been brought to my attention by a reviewer that the beginning of chapter 70 of Unexpected Destinies has been plagiarized by the author Namikazekamui over at fanfiction.net & Archive of our Own.

Look back at the beginning of chapter 70 and then compare it to the start of her chapter 16. Now replace Dean with Harrison and angel with ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, that sucks big time. I've been on FF.net for a while but I can't say I've ever had to deal with this before so I have no good advice, only sympathy.

Thanks, the sympathy is more then appreciated! That and the reactions of everyone here have been a big help in getting me less angry about this whole issue.

I know. I couldn't believe it at first, I mean what's the point with fan fiction? If you get complimented on that bit of the fic, you know it wasn't your work!

Wow! LAME! I will never understand people who plagarize fanfiction. I mean, the whole point of writing fanfiction is to, uh, you know, WRITE it. Not copy&paste somebody elses. That sucks. :(

OK, so this person is on LJ too: http://namikazekamui.livejournal.com/profile/

And they are friends with me. I'm wondering if I should read through all their stuff and see if they plagarized me too. It looks like they are already getting called out on it, but I feel so incredibly uncomfortable having this person on my friends list. Wish I could kick them off. :/

I saw some of my friends were listed on her profile as well, I let them know. I can't believe someone would do this?
It's not like anyone makes money or anything and stealing credit for someone's hard work is the lowest >:(

I tried skimming through that fic to see if my work or anyone else who I read got dinged in it too, but it was really long and garbled (probably from copy&pasting so many people) and I don't have time for it. Gah, this is frustrating.

It pisses me off so much when people plagiarize because really, what's the point? When people compliment it, they aren't complimenting you. They are complimenting the original author, so why bother fishing for compliments with some else's work? I just... I don't get it. How does it make them feel better? They know they didn't write it, so why? ARGH.

Well shirley_007 noticed that she stole from meh_forget_it too and I let heavenreturned know too as she was listed as a friend on her LJ profile as well.

So plagiarizer is banned from the Dean/Gabriel community even is she did not post there, but still... just on principle y'know.

And that's what I don't understand either! Why steal?? I took a look at her FF.n bio, she doesn't speak English really well.
Someone must be really sad to fish for compliments like this *sigh*

i do have an account at ff.n and i have seen cases where people have plagiarized others works. Im not sure as to how much it will be of comfort to you, but the adminsitration on the site do tend to take these things seroiusly, as least as far as Ive seen. So if you did write an abuse ticket, then it should be taken carefully.

Sorrth that something like this happened :(

Thanks and yes, it seems like both archives acted quickly and decisively. That does help somewhat, but still, it's taken me a long time to calm down enough to think about writing more which isn't fair to me or the people who read UD.
