Just a short one-shot.... but not really a drabble, around 850-ish
Happy Birthday Sungmin! Happy New year everyone <3 -LOL unbeta-ed, i sneaked out of my family gathering just t write. keke

Ryeowook and Sungmin are sitting on the couch staring blankly at the television while everyone’s excited for the countdown to New Year’s Celebration. Ryeowook glances to his side and sees his hyung’s now drooping eyes.

“Hyung, what’s your New Year’s wish?” Ryeowook asks pulling Sungmin out of his dreamland.

“Hm? Aren’t we supposed to make resolutions or something?” He asks and Ryeowook rolls his eyes. “But, well… I wish people would always greet me. I mean, yeah they always greet me Happy New Year, but not Happy Birthday. I wish every time people celebrate New Year, they also have me in mind, because New Years day is Sungmin’s birthday. I want to spend it with the person I love the most, not the New year, but my birthday.”

“I can do that, that… I mean greeting you Happy Birthday.” Ryeowook says, obviously feeling so bored about Sungmin’s wish. “Is that all? I can do that much.”

“Then tell me Ryeowookie, this year what are those memories that you would want to change and those that you would want to keep?” He shifted on his seat to fully face his dongsaeng who now seems to be rummaging his brain. “Why do I get to answer the harder question?”

“Because, one; I am your hyung, and two; it’s my birthday. Now go, answer it now.” Sungmin pouted when Ryeowook laid back on the couch resting his head on the armrest, he pounced on the younger and giggled when Ryeowook cursed, his head completely falling off the armrest. Sungmin wrapped his arms around Ryeowook’s chest and placed his ears close to his heart, listening intently to the fast rhythm of his dongsaeng’s heartbeat.

“Well, there are those things I wouldn’t want to change.” Ryeowook said and bit his lower lip. What are those?” the older asked with a soft voice, Ryeowook’s heartbeat seems to calm him down and he sure does like what he’s hearing.

“One,” He ran his hand through Sungmin’s hair, “I don’t regret going home late that night I almost got killed. I don’t regret having to meet you as a hero who saved my life knocking out three criminals double your size, it could never get better.” He says and Sungmin laughs.

“Two,” He slide his hand lower, close to Sungmin’s nape playing with the fur of his hyung’s scarf, “I don’t regret taking the course I don’t really like. I don’t regret failing my entrance exams on the school of my choice. I don’t regret having to go to that university and got to meet you again.” This time it’s Sungmin who’s playing with the button of Ryeowook’s shirt.

“Three,” Ryeowook wrapped both his arms around Sungmin’s torso, locking him close. “I don’t regret transferring here and living with you. It’s a bit crowded, I know, but it’s feels like a home, this is our home.” He smiles, taking a deep breath and inhaling Sungmin’s scent. “Everything that happened this year I wouldn’t want to change, except for one thing.”

Sungmin lifted his head and saw Ryeowook looking back at him with a soft smile. “That day, when you said you love me. That’s the biggest regret I’ll probably ever have for the rest of my life.” He sighs ans closes his eyes. He can feel Sungmin’s hand now resting on his right cheek, caressing it delicately. “I regret running away, I regret running away from you. I regret ever doubting my feelings…. My feelings for you. I regret it.”

“If there’s one thing I would like to change this past year, that would probably it. If I can go back to that night,” Sungmin tried to get up but Ryeowook’s grip was lock tight. “I won’t run away. I would hug you tight, never let you go, and say what I truly feel. I’ll say I love you, I love you too, until you get sick of it.”

A long silent moment claimed the night, with Sungmin lying atop Ryeowook, and Ryeowook holding him tight. They can hear the soft buzzing of the tv, now counting…

5… A tear escapes Ryeowook’s eyes.

4… He lifts his head and presses a kiss on top of Sungmin’s head

3… He lets go of Sungmin, hesitantly pulling his hands away.

2… Sungmin slowly gets off, and Ryeowook closes his eyes.

1… The tv flashed different colors, different designs of fireworks decorating the night sky. Ryeowook listens to when Sungmin will get out and go to the apartment next to theirs, to Kyuhyun, to Sungmin’s boyfriend.

1… Sungmin crawls up so that he’s now face to face with Ryeowook.

“Happy new year.” He whispers, and Ryeowook opens his eyes. “I’ll have to rephrase my wish…” He says and leans closer to Ryeowook, placed a gentle kiss on his dongsaeng’s lips before whispering, lips still touching, “New Years day is Sungmin’s day, and I want to spend it with the person I love the most. I want to spend it with you."
