Ideas for dinner!

Last weekend hubby and I went to Bellevue, and I noticed a store that we had to stop by and check. "Exotic Meats". It's a tiny place attached to an Indian grocery store, owned by a regular Caucasian guy (very nice and friendly man, by the way). There were several freezers stocked with the weirdest meats that one can think of. The picture on the left? Rattlesnake, $39.95 per lb. The owner suggested that we serve it on the upcoming holidays. Or if we'd prefer, they will start offering python soon (oh, I was so thrilled to hear that! Just what I always wanted to eat.) We saw frozen frog legs, crocodile, kangaroo, llama, wild boar, yak... all sorts of birds, mammals (thankfully, no dogs or cats!). There was turtle too, but I didn't see them in the frozen plastic bags. Most meats were offered in hamburger patties as well as regular cuts.

The owner explained that most of these meats taste like chicken or beef at first (ostrich tastes like beef, according to him, which surprises people), because those are what we always ate, and therefore what our brain recognizes. But once we eat enough, let's say, rattlesnake, it stops tasting like chicken and starts tasting like rattlesnake. Lovely!
