Whether or not the dictionary makes abortion and murder seem like the same thing, the law defines them differently and as such must be treated differently. Just because it WAS illegal doesn't mean a thing. Drinking used to be illegal too. The fact is that laws change based on society, whether everyone loves the idea or not. It is not important what individuals think when it comes to the law. Yes you have the decision to shoot everyone in the mall. However, the law says that there are dire consequences for you should you act upon this. Abortion can be called wrong by you morally, but you can't just declare it morally wrong for everyone just because you don't like it because the laws are what dictate our lives (sadly), not personal feelings. I'm not a fan of the law, and I'm sure that you wish there were some others in place, however, we are all forced to live with the laws that are currently in place, and only those. Not those which we want, or those which should be there, or those which shouldn't. The only laws that matter are those that ARE. Until a law makes abortion illegal, it will continue, and should be allowed to, and attacking people who do it and are ok with it is more politically incorrect than them having it in the first place. Your argument exists only in a perfect world where everyone can afford to have a child and love them, but sadly that does not exist, and as the law allows abortion, it will continue to be a practice.

In some countries, the law condones genocide and holocaust.

What would have happened if no one stood up to those leaders and the law?

Even more people would have been senselessly slaughtered.

I will not stand by and let people kill my generation because they have more political power than I do, and neither should you.

Yes, some countries do permit horrible things to happen to their people. However, American is NOT one of those countries. We have laws that protect our people. Just think of the American with Disabilities Act. Or what about the amendments for racial equality and women's suffrage. The fact remains that while some countries do atrocious things, American remains a country that stands up for the rights of it's people, which includes the right to abort their unborn children.

What law protects the right of the unborn?

What right do we have to kill each other?

Abortion IS a horrible thing. An unborn baby is an American.

An unborn baby dying, screaming, being sucked from the womb and slaughtered IS an atrocious thing.

Who is protecting the right to LIVE?

The government is protecting the rights of those already born to live. I'm sorry to say part of it is economical, where a 37 year old woman can feed the economy. But the other part is that the grown woman has earned the right to live through all she's done is protected. Or what about the woman who has an accident and conceives? The law is allowing her to escape the pain of having to give birth, give away the child, and hoping that a born being has success. The option of abortion leaves her with freedom, making the whole process easier on her financially and morally. (The reason I include morally is because, while you oppose it, she no doubt would not since she's doing it)

Earned the right to live?

When you were born, what did you do to deserve that honor, I wonder? Maybe the miracle of conception. Or maybe you were lucky enough to have a mother that realizes you are not another statistic, you are not an inconveience, you are a living and breathing human being who will one day grow up to have their own voice and opinions and maybe even share them.

I don't know how much you know about pain, or medicine. But a baby being chopped up obviously feels much greater and fatal pain than a woman giving birth, especially with the aid of anesthesia or an epidural.

Your final statement about a mother not having any moral opposition to abortion is clearly incorrect, because as I have previously pointed out, many women are forced to have abortions. Nine months of your life versus a lifetime of the unborn child is not an equal trade.

I did NOTHING to deserve that honor. Neither did you. Neither did the Queen of England. What merits our lives and makes them worthwhile is the love we share during them. A mother who cares to bring a child into the world and is able to will receive the benefits, as will her family. But for a child brought into an family devoid of love, and then given to another family, that is just horrible. I would be CRUSHED if my parents gave me away because they didn't want me. Life would be full of the most depressing questions. It would be a terrible existence. And while I understand that some people are forced to have abortions, it is not like random people bring them to the clinic and do it. These people that make them get abortions are influential people in their lives, people who know what is good for them. Sometimes a painful event is necessary to save someone. You may not understand this, but in the movie Vertical Limit, 2 kids and their dad were hanging from a mountain by a rope and a hook. Since the hook was slipping out from the rock, the fahter knew the only way he could ensure the safety of his 2 kids was to cut his rope and fall to his death, lessening the pressure on the hook, and saving them. While this is Hollywood drama, it still has it's real life applications, and THIS IS ONE OF THEM!

Well I'm glad you're hear to speak for every adopted person, ever. Why would there be any mothers at all willing to give their children up for adoption if it is so wrong? Because they love their children enough to give them a chance to live and a better future.

You're "Hollywood application" surprisingly seems to apply much more to the pro-life argument than a pro-choice one. A parent making a sacrifice to allow their children the opportunity to live. The sacrifice of lesser means by having to support a child, or the sacrifice of 9 months of being pregnant, or hours of labor, or giving up their child to adoption. So you are right. This is a real life application. And in real life, everyone deserves a chance to experience it.

The point of the Hollywood application was not a father sacrificing himself for his kids, but of sacrficing one person for the greater good. Cutting away the baby allows the rest of the people hanging on that rope to survive and go on. As for the mothers giving their children up for adoption, they do it because those children have already been brought into the world. Once a child is born, the law defines it as murder to kill him/her. The only option is to send the child away. But for some it is much easier to simply abort. Remember, pro-choice means you have a CHOICE, where u can have the child or you can give it away. You are essentially forcing all mothers, whether it's their wishes or not, to have these children. Think about that, and respect these mothers and what they want. And while you could choose to say that the unborn fetuses don't get the option, they do not have the mental facilities to make a decision, only to feel basic sensations.

When a child is born, it is the same human being it has been in the womb and will continue to be outside the womb. Less than 12 inches between one woman's legs should not constitute the difference between life and death when the human being has not changed at all.

The pro-life option provides a choice. The choice is if you are capable of caring for a baby, you keep it. If you're not, you allow another person to provide for it.

There are people "alive" now who do to mental retardation and other neurological situations are still incapable of making their own decisions. But they are allowed to live.

You act like I'm the one who made the idea of abortion and murder different. I did not which I'm sure you know. But, given the standards that the law lays down, I have chosen what to believe. You are trying to live in the utopia that will NEVER exist. You want people to be able to have the child, and it's magically whisked away to a prosperous land. Well guess what. THAT'S NOT WHAT HAPPENS!!! Life is not perfect, and people are forced to make tough decisions. But at least I give them room to do it instead of forcing them to live with a mistake!!!!
