I think those words have some truth to them. Even of you never meant to hurt the person, it still hurts all the same. Like if your boyfriend kisses your best friend. Or if your husband lies to you. Or, if you lied to a teacher at achool. Wether you meant to hurt them does not really matter. You still did it. And, you should try not to hurt the people you love, if you can help it. They might just do the same thing to you, later in life, if you're not careful.
I don't think I have ever hurt someone like Lucas hurt Brooke; I would never hurt any of my friends that badly. And I could say that I will not do it purposely, but neither did Lucas. And yet, he hurt Brooke pretty badly. Twice. You see, the first time (in the quote) it was the first season, and he kissed Peyton (who is just as awesome as Brooke, BTW). But the second time, was in the 3rd season, when Peyton told her she had feelings for Lucas. Peyton told Brooke that she would not act on those feelings, that she would keep them hidden. Later, when Brooke told Rachel (who is not the most nicest person on the earth) all of this, she said:
Rachel: So let me get this straight: You don't like Lucas. Peyton does, but she's willing to hide those feelings of you asked her to. Sounds like a pretty good friend to me.
And Peyton was a good friend. So don't hurt your friends, because they just might end thier friend ship with you if you hurt them badly enough. Wether you meant to do it or not.
(BTW- Lucas and Peyton are dating, or they were at the end of the 4th season. The 5th season will be 5 years into the future. And Brooke did rekindle her friendship with Peyton after she was attacked by her stalker, 'watchmewatchyou'.)
