A Frieze report

Oct 16, 2011 23:34

As always, Frieze was overload. Art overload.
Exhausting.
- Though of the good kind.

Whilst spending some hours wandering in between the gallery booths on Friday I found plenty of inspiration and
new galleries to keep an eye on. Here are some of my favourites:

Mike Nelson's 'Towards a lexicon of phenomena              Bortolami gallery, New York
and information association , an intermediate home
apparatus - moon high, bone black.' from 2011
at 303 Gallery, New York

Ibid Project's booth had yet another room, and some fabulous works by Amir Mogharabi and Louise Despont.

The huge mechanic structure by Michael Andu           Tommy Grace 'Ad Ex', 2011, Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh
in Thomas Dane Gallery was amazing.
Full of details moving every time the girl activated it!

I found Moyra Davey's projects super intriguing. This example, 'Trust Me' from 2011,
exhibited by Murray Guy, New York

Georg Kargl gallery in Vienna had made their booth into      A massivesculpture by Paul Johnson,
a little house full of art!                                                                  Ancient & Modern, London

I completely fell in love with the photographic works by Ryan Mc Kinley. Oh my.
The one above is 'Amanda(Haystack)' 2011

Below: Lutz Bacher's 'Redwood', 2011 and 'The Package', 2006-2011 by Mark DION

Galerie Meyer Kainer's walls were funky green                 I found one of my favourites, Sigmar Polke, in
Michael Werner Gallery, New York. This is
                                                                                                     'Meteorites' from 1988.

A goldfish on the floor.                                     And last but not least; a delish pear juice from the VIP room!

So much art squashed together in so few hours woah!
But, I am already looking forward to next year's fair.
