I bought some
Benadryl: Allergy & Sinus Headache today and it seems to be helping with the symptoms. "We've got the germs on the run!" (ref to earlier post)
anabell_moore posted the other day that she was
whistling "Itsy Bitsy Spider" on her way home from the grocery store. Well, today I found myself humming "Pop! Goes the Weasel" as I walked home from the bus (transit) stop. Why do these children's songs still pop into the head of adults? I often hear people humming children's song... until they catch themselves.
A friend (male, near my age [26]) made a rather disturbing comment today about Angela Lansbury (81). He told me that he thought
Angela Lansbury looked good. I agreed that she looked very good for her age of 81. However, I found out he meant she was attractive in general. Regretting the answer that I was expecting, I asked "Do you mean that: If you met a woman your own age that looked like she [Angela] does now, you would find them attractive?" *shudder* He didn't just say yes... He was smiling the goofy look he gets when he sees a curvy young women (whom look like "lingerie models") in the supermarket near the gym. *shudder* I'm one of the first to agree that women can still be very attractive as they approach 60s, and pretty after that... But I don't think it's healthy for someone in their 20s to be as attracted as he is to a woman in her 80s. I really wonder about him sometimes.
Today on the bus, a hispanic woman (23-35) with two kids sat in the seats in front of me. In every other way she was of average ("just another person") appearance (pretty, but nothing remarkable). As I sat behind her on the bus, I of course have nothing to do but look generally forward. After several seconds, I notice her ears peaking out from the hair that is draped behind them. As she moved her head around (talking to her kids, looking around, etc), something about them stood out in a really remarkable way. They were breathtaking, as weird as that sounds. It was something about the smooth curves of their shape - Something similar to the shadows tracing a body in the artistic almost-nudes seen in adds and such. I knew that there isn't a body part that I haven't found attractive on a woman, but to find ears so attractive was somewhat strange. Yeah, yeah... I know; I'm really weird.
Looking through TitanTV.com to see what was on TV at the moment, I saw some good movies that I'd recommend people see.
- Fluke (1995) - A businessman is reincarnated as a dog. Cover's there birth and experience of being a dog, realization of a past life, talking to other reincarnates, meeting various humans, finding his family, and closure (enlightenment) of his past life.
- Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970) - A drama with a documentary base. Shows the Pearl Harbor Attacks from both perspectives. I do not know the authenticity of everything it in, but is very interesting. Presents that both sides made mistakes leading up to the event.
- Map of the Human Heart (1993) - It was not on the listings, but I thought I'd mention it. The two main characters are an Inuit ("Eskimo") male and a mixed (French - Indian [Inuit?]) female, with the story following the life of the male. Taken to civilization for tuberculosis treatment as a child, he meets the female and they fall in love, but returns to his village shortly after. Through the years of his life (during WWII) he keeps meeting her again, but circumstances keep tearing them apart. It is a slow moving movie, so action lovers will be bored. Its very contemplative over love, social bonds, and life (many males will probably hate it). Despite normally allowing myself to be absorbed into a movie and sympathizing for characters, I don't cry (though I may feel "their" sorrow/pain)... This movie is an exception. The last quarter of the movie is very heart wrenching (positive and negative emotion).
I can think of many other movies that are really good (Black Hawk Down, Forrest Gump, etc), but the above ones are ones likely to have been missed and really could use mentioning.
