I'm not a planker, so I can't explain, but I guess there is no sense in it. They find it interesting to lie down in an unusual place.

I looked it up. It's a kind of game, where people do it and take photos. They post the photos on the game's Web site. They also have a Facebook page. Ooooh! And check out the 65 best planking pictures from around the world! :D
