I'm not sure I can really narrow this down to just one. Let me toss out a handful and see which one floats to the top.
- Our wedding day.
- 's birth.
- Defending my dissertation, and doing the final legwork to earn my Ph.D.
- Watching take to the track at the kart racing school like a fish to water.
- Back when and I were dating and we were both still in school, sometimes she'd stop by my parents' house for breakfast together before our classes. Once my parents both left for work, sometimes we'd go back to bed. ;-D
- Family vacations.
Okay...which of those would have to be my favorite?
When was 5, Legoland Carlsbad was celebrating its first anniversary, so we planned a vacation to coincide with the anniversary weekend. One celebratory activity was "color parades", where everyone debated which color of bricks was the best. 's favorite color was blue, so we had just bought him a blue Legoland shirt, and the guy leading the Blue Parade saw him in his blue shirt and declared him to be the parade's grand marshal.
Imagine a whole procession of entertainers and guests, all wearing blue, all marching through the park to a steady cadence of "Blue, blue, blue blue blue"...being led by five-year-old , in a blue shirt and waving a big blue flag.
When all the parades met at the amphitheater, there was a concert. And since was leading the Blue Parade, he got to dance up on stage, in that little spastic dance that all five-year-olds seem to do.
and I laughed until we cried.
And that, readers, is my favorite memory. It's got , it's got , it has Legoland (our favorite place on Earth), it has doing something special, it has music and laughter and merriment. doesn't remember it at all, but I don't think and I will ever forget it.
(I'm kind of surprised that one came out on top. Perhaps I shouldn't be.)
