Day 08/30

Sep 21, 2010 10:39

Yesterday was hectic. I still took the day off work, and did her PT exercises twice in the morning. In the afternoon, first we took to his class, then we ran down to an autobody shop to get an estimate (my car was rear-ended last week). Then we picked up after his class, then we drove to for 's PT appointment. Then we drove home, had dinner, and she and I finally had the walk that I'd promised her.

It could've been worse. is now 15½ years old, so we could've taken him for his Learner's Permit test in the morning. However, he wanted to sleep in (no surprise), so that didn't happen.

Anyway, today I'm back at work, and in an all-day training class. On to the list.

Day 08 - A precious item
Aww, man, this one is hard.

I'm going to skip some obvious choices. Oxygen/food/water/shelter are items, yes, but that'd be taking the easy way out. Thoughts and ideas are items, yes, but I think this entry needs to be about something a bit more tangible. (Euler's Identity, anyone?)

Along those lines, so are emotions-let's limit this to physical stuff. So, a precious item.

Items are just things. Take things away from me, and life will still go on tomorrow. I am not particularly sentimental and really don't have any strong emotional attachments to family heirlooms, antiques, or hand-me-downs. The sole exception in this category might be my wedding ring, for what it represents, although I haven't worn it in years (it doesn't fit-I've gained about 25 pounds since we married).

-thinks-

Well, let me take a minor cop-out, and name something that is precious to someone that is precious to me. As a mathematical property, preciousness should be transitive, after all:rel(A,B) && rel(B,C) -> rel(A,C)

had wanted a piano for a long time, and about two years ago, we finally got one. It's big and it's black and it looks awesome through the front window...but to , it's much much more. It reminds her of her childhood, it is a source of music, and it gives her a place in the house where she can escape from and me and get away. :-)

It's not much, but there you go.
