Just Can't Help It.

Characters: Micheal, Kei and Allen.

“We're going to get in trouble.” Micheal sends a glare at her little bro- Kei. His name is Kei, she can't get too attached if she wanted to bust out of there. Kei's blue eyes flicker with worry, worry that Micheal ignores because she is the senior person here, not him. He is the rookie. The newbie.

“Not if we aren't caught.” She replies stealthily making her way down the halls. Looking around for any cameras that are in the ceiling, she made her way down the empty hall, Kei following timidly behind her.

“But what if Babs-”

“Babs won't find out!” She snarled quietly, tone telling him to keep quiet or she will quiet him herself. Kei's mouth automatically clamped closed, his long hair cupping his baby face. Her feet were cat's feet, stealth padded paws that make no sound on the concrete floors. Kei's feet were the same although the boy was more of a mouse than he was a man. Micheal knew soon enough that innocence would be beaten out of him by the guards. Oddly she felt sad when she thought of that.

She walked slowly down the west corridor, the guards probably distracted by something or other. She looked back every so often to see if Kei was alright. It was strange, looking back to see if anyone was alright. It shouldn't have been strange, with Kei having been her ward for a good three months.

It still was.

Down the hall they went, and to the end. Micheal turned the corner of the hallway only to stumble into a laboratory. Her body going stiff she didn't really register when Kei walked into her. He squeaked and fell to the ground. With pouting lips he looked up to his preteen commander and frowned at her sudden rigid stature.

“Micheal?” He asked quietly, barely making a noise. A noise fit for a mouse. “What's wron-” He stopped as he stood once more to look around her stiff form.

In the middle of the laboratory stood a tall glass incubator like tube. It was filled to the brim with chemical enhanced water.
Flashes, memories, nightmares, his life, everything flashed before his eyes as he stared at the case. Was that how he came to be? Was that how the brave girl in front of him came to be? He couldn't help think of those things as he stared at the snow white girl in the case. He took a few steps forward as he stared at her, he looked back towards Micheal and then back at the girl.

Stunning matches. As if they could be identical. The only difference would have been Micheal's hair pitch black as the night sky, or perhaps even darker. The girl in the tube, her hair short, much shorter than his or Micheals, her hair was an ash blonde color, almost making it out to be stark white like fallen snow. Her eyelashes were black fluttering back and forth as if she were awake.

She was naked. That wasn't the part that confused and excited Kei.

Her wings, beautiful wings like those from angels of the Bible. They were pure white, beautiful, and looked as if she was going to just open her eyes and fly right up to heaven.

He could see why Micheal was the first clone. The two looked exactly alike but both were so different. On the glass tube there was a bronze plaque.

Allen.
Number 1.
Codename: Dove.
Kei frowned at the codename and then turned to look at the preteen behind him who had still not moved and was staring at the case. Her eyes were blank and hollow, her face blank and unwavering. The Dove and the Crow, huh? He thought to himself. The Crow was the Dove's opposite. Crows supposedly bringing death while Doves gave life. He couldn't also help that, it seemed very unfair to the imperfect few. To Micheal, his commander, his protector. It seemed very, very unfair.

He turned from the case towards his unresponsive roommate and watched as her eyes dully watched the case, no sense of recognition came from them. He felt terrible, like he was intruding on an important moment, but he didn't want Micheal to reverse to something more terrible. He'd seen it sometimes. Clones who couldn't deal with it and they reversed, into a child-like insensible state. Where none of them would respond, and they died quickly after that. He didn't want that.

“Micheal.” He grabbed her hand, his thumb rubbing soothing circles into the flesh. No response, her eyes still on the case. “Micheal. Micheal, please.” Nothing once more.

He pulled her, yanked her, and she didn't move an inch from where she stood. How strong was this young girl of only eleven years? He didn't know. All he knew was there was something wrong with her, and that case. He frowned and then pulled at Micheal's hair.

“Micheal. Micheal!” His voice grew louder, more desperate, but once again nothing. He didn't know her face could look that baby soft underneath the harsh lines of anger and tiredness. “Crow!” He barked and her eyes looked from the case towards him in clear recognition.

“What?” She snapped, and then blinked once, her eyelashes shuttering. The hard lines were back and her baby soft facial features were gone. Kei sighed in relief and clutched himself onto her, tucking into her side as he breathed another sigh of relief.

“You came back.” He sighed and then hugged the skinny preteen tighter. Annoyed and confused all at the same time, Micheal pushed Kei away from her by stiff arming his head. He grunted in pain but didn't protest to the treatment. He was grateful she was acting normal.

“Let's go Babybirdy. We got some snacks to find.” She smirked and turned around towards the door. As she walked out, Kei couldn't help but look back towards the epicenter of the episode that day. Startled as he stared he watched the girl in the case, Dove. She smiled at him, her eyes open and a vibrant cat eyed green. Her smile looked a little hindered by the tube in her throat, and Kei couldn't help the squeak of surprise and horror. He turned on his heels and dashed out of the room, quiet be damned. Dove watched him go, her eyes dancing in amusement.

Kei caught up with Micheal, his heart hammering in his chest. He looked at the preteen, wondering whether or not he should tell her what he saw. After thinking about it and wondering if she would go into the same state as before he thought against it.

After all he really couldn't help it.
