another overly-loquacious post about something i neglected to mention: TV!

In this post:

FMA Brotherhood!
Naruto (including Kakashi Gaiden!)
True Blood!
K-ON!
Hetalia!
Not Star Trek!
Gurren Lagann! (This time with Coherency!)
Haruhi Season Two >:(

FMA Brotherhood:
I really like it. It's so exciting to see all the manga people finally animated! And the last few episodes I watched had Ling in them! Ling! <3! I'm a few eps behind again because I keep forgetting that I have to keep up weekly. The one sad thing about it is this: I own three-fourths of the original FMA anime... but now when I watch it I'm like "Oh I should skip this episode, it's filler." ... But... It's all filler. There are like three things in it that actually happen in the manga. And that makes me sad. :( But then I watch FMA Brotherhood on the Funimation website and I'm happy again. :D

Naruto:
The filler finally ended, praise be! And now begins (began) all the action with Hebi. My thoughts on Team Hebi basically run as such: SUIGETSU YOU ARE SO PRETTY WHY DID THEY COLOR YOU ALL LILAC AND PERIWINKLE LIKE THAT YOU MAKE ME HAPPY WHEN I LOOK AT YOU.
>.> yeah.
And Kakashi Gaiden! *_* I GOT TO FINALLY HEAR MY BOYFRIEND'S VOICE. OH, FOURTH HOKAGE... *_* SOME SMALL PART OF MY LIFE'S PUZZLE FELL INTO PLACE UPON HEARING YOUR BEAUTIFUL TONES. :DDDD
I thought it was awesome! :D Although I would have liked to see my boyfriend actually battle, and honestly, (not to agree with the entire interwebs or anything) Obito's voice left a lot to be desired... it was strangely mature for him, and sort of out of place. The whole deal was very well done, though, and I enjoyed it muchly :D

True Blood:
I started watching this with Mal while we were in Key West together (which will be discussed in a later post :X ) She owns the first season and says it's the only tv show she watches religiously. We've made it through the whole first season so far (and I've downloaded the first five eps of the second season but haven't had a chance to watch any of them yet). Honestly, I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's soooooo campy. And Bill's a little Garystufabulous, but Lafayette is so awesome that I could just honestly watch the whole show for him. And it's a little (very) gory and a little (very) uncensored because it's an HBO show so they can get away with all kinds of language and nudity and gore. :X But despite its quirks I'm enjoying it muchly so far. And the opening sequence is pretty neat, too. It's sort of like subliminal messaging but all they show are clips of dead things, bayous, church services, and scantily-clad folk. It's awesome in a you can't look away even though you know they're going to show a dead possum now sort of way. Which seems like a weird way to be awesome... but that's how it is. Go watch it on youtube or something.

K-ON!:
Honestly I had just heard about this show and downloaded it without knowing anything about it... and i really enjoyed it. I just finished watching it tonight. It's basically about these four (and later five) pathetically lazy girls who join the light music club and start a band. It's a super cute show and all the girls are so innocently admiring of all the others and are all such close friends that if it was any more serious of a show I'd probably be off reading K-ON femmeslash instead of writing this post, because they all seriously are in love with each other. And the songs they do end up writing and performing (although definitely in the odd stream of consciousness style favored by most Japanese songwriters) are actually all really good. And the opening and ending songs are actually sung by the seiyuu of the band members, which I think is a really neat touch. (Also Tsumugi looks like a female England, which brings me to my next topic)

Axis Powers Hetalia!:
What a corny show. Srsly. Why does this show amuse me so greatly? Is it my epic history nerdiness? Is is the srs bromance (or is it simply romance? ;D) between Germany and Italy? Is it my inability to figure out how all of fandom somehow agreed on personal names for the countries that I can find no proof of in anime or manga canon so far? (Srsly, where did they come from?) Is it the absolute inanity of this show in general? Is it the shocking knowledge that Daisuke Namikawa, voice of the ridiculous Italy, is also the seiyuu for Ulquiorra? I honestly have no idea, but I love this show, I love the manga, and I cannot wait for the second season. Hearts.

PS does anyone know where I can find an mp3 of Marukaite Chikyuu (the ending song) because I can't find it anywhere and I seriously want it.

Star Trek:
...

Poor Star Trek... my fandom ADD has kicked in and I have still not watched any further that the last time I mentioned not watching it. I always find it harder to motivate myself to watch hour-long episodes instead of half-hour ones, since my internet ADD keeps me from being able to watch a 24-minute anime episode in less than two hours and it thus takes me exponentially longer to watch one twice as long. D: I want to watch more! I just keep choosing to watch whatever I'll finish first...and by that standard, Star Trek falls probably right before Heroes in number of eps needed to catch up.

Gurren Lagann! (Now With More Coherency!)
*preremptory keyboard smash*
Gurren Lagann was AMAZING. FABULOUS. GO WATCH IT. I really enjoyed it so much, it was so shouneny and wonderful despite Nia the Ultra Sue and it really played with my emotions and has lead me to believe that I, a D-cupped female, could cosplay Kamina, and it took me three times as long as it should have to watch the last three episodes or so because I spent a million years screencapping all the awesomeness. However I am sad that there seems to be only Kamina/Simon slash and no Simon/Viral because Kamina and Simon ARE ANIKI AND KYOUDAI, OKAY, FREAKING GAR BROTHERS IN MANLINESS, AND DO NOT HAVE A WEEPY SEME/UKE RELATIONSHIP. ALSO, ISN'T SIMON LIKE 12 OR 13 AT THE BEGINNING? SHOUTA ALERT MMKAY? Simon/Viral makes so much more sense to me in my fujoshi brain and I cannot comprehend why there is no fic for them on lj especially since lj is my standby for hard to find pairings and fandoms. >( *grumpy face*

And finally, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2:
WHAT THE FUCK KADOKAWA HMMMMM? WHAT IS THIS EPIC SHIT? THE ENDLESS EIGHT? IF THERE ARE ACTUALLY EIGHT EPISODES OF THIS REPEATING TIME LOOP SHIT I'M GONNA SLAP A HO. AND BY A HO I MEAN WHOEVER THOUGH THIS RIDICULOUS STORY ARC WAS A GOOD IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE.
(for those of you joining us already in progress, the immensely popular show The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya recently returned for a second season, but at least five or six out of the nine eps released so far have a ridiculous repeating storyline that is driving fans worldwide insane. It goes like this. Main character girl wants to finish off summer with a bang. So she makes a list of all the things she could possibly think of doing in the last two weeks of summer (august, thus 'endless eight' as in today is 8/18) and drags all her friends around to do all these things. They finish the list and everyone goes to bed expecting school to start next day/episode. However, main girl (who has the power to manipulate time and space but does not know about said power and can only access it subconsicously) is apparently unfulfilled at the end of the two weeks and causes the time loops back to the beginning of the two weeks, and the next episode leaves both the other characters and the viewers with a strange sense of deja vu as the previous episode's events are repeated with almost no variation. Except at the end of the episode, the other characters (who are more familiar with Main girl's powers than main girl is) realize that time is looping, but are too late to do anything about it, and time resets. And did I mention that every time the time loops back, their memories reset, so they have to figure out everything all over again at the end of every episode? And they still haven't figured out what regrets the main girl has about summer that's causing her to make time loop back, and this is the fifth or sixth episode that has gone on in this vein. It's really pissing me (and anime fans everywhere) off immensely. (and yet for some reason I keep watching it... go figure...)

More shit to come. I plan to get all this back-up blogging done before school starts (if not before I move in doubtful) Peace for now though. :D
