enormous post/update/word vomit
I just realized how long it's been since I've updated... I meant to post like a week ago, but I was taking steroids for poison ivy and they totally messed with my brain, and then I had a funk about the future for a while, but now I think I have mono... so I really can't keep using these things as an excuse.
I quit my job at Mcdonald's today. I haven't actually worked there since last summer, but I was still officially 'employed' so I called them today to resign. I'm working around the house for my parents this summer and they're paying me much better than Mickey D's did, although I wouldn't have gotten poison ivy handing cheeseburgers out a window, and I can't exactly put yardwork on a resume. >.> I'm not particularly sad about leaving though, although it was a good life experience. /deep proclamation
I sort of finally decided what I want to do when I grow up~! I want to publish books! (Yes, for those keeping score at home, I've been going to a fifty-grand-a-year college for a degree completely unrelated to that.) I'm trying to decide now whether I want to graduate with my BA in Japanese and then go elsewhere for a English major or stick around CMU for an extra year to finish up there. Siiigh. Troublesome.
I have been watching lots of things! (Titles italicized for easy reference :P)
♥ I am almost caught up in Series 6 of Doctor Who (I'm halfway through The Rebel Flesh) and loving it, actually. Some of the things are a little odd, but The Doctor's Wife is now one of my All-Time Favorite Episodes (and not just because Neil Gaiman wrote it, although I do love pretty much everything he writes...) Also, as I have all the Doctors except 1 and 2 on my external, I've arbitrarily chosen 5 and am slowly (veeeery slowly) working through the Peter Davison episodes.
♥ I also finished what of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei I had on my hard drive (my batch ended after the third ep of Zoku, and I can't find more, but whatever. I thought it was quite funny all through the first season, but it got a little formulaic after that so I don't mind not seeing the end (if it in fact ends).
♥ I don't know if I've mentioned this (wonking great hiatus and all) but I recently caught up in the manga of Katekyo Hitman Reborn! and am working on the anime, although I've only watched two episodes yet. ^^; I am seriously in love with Yamamoto, I want to have many many of his sultry golden-eyed, totally and adorably obtuse, and unbelievably badass children.
♥ I also caught up in Fairy Tail, found out there was an alternate ending and OVAs for OreImo and watched one of those, started Read or Die (I am Yomiko Readman) and Sora no Woto (super moe in fantasy France?) and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (super teenage boy humor but hella guilty pleasure) and Ao no Exorcist (awesome and filled with epic action and crazy people/crazy hotness), picked Supernatural and Torchwood back up (I stopped watching season 6 of SPN while I was in Japan, and I had to take a long break from Torchwood because every episode was so angst-rific and I'd been spoiled for the big character death in season three so it was getting sort of painful. >.<) I'm working my way slowly through Rurouni Kenshin but I downloaded the English dub and it's seriously so cheesy that I have to take it in small doses.
I've also started reading the mangas of Kekkaishi, Pandora Hearts, and Ouran, but those are sort of taking me a while. Meanwhile, the Black Butler manga is currently SPECTACULARLY AWESOME! Grell!! And Lizzy!! And Grell! And Lizzy!! I seriously cannot express my love enough. Bleach and Naruto are ludicrous as ever, although I was pleasantly suprised by Orihime's being badass in the last chapter. Also, "PIGS DON'T HAVE HANDS." I lol'd. (One day I will catch up in their animes... but I am so put off by all the filler, it's really hard... >.<)
We are almost done with Otakon costumes (we even added a Durarara!! group to match my snazzy new Durarara!! mood theme that kaerimichii made me ;D)

Saturday: (Ouran Host Club) Everyone except Haruhi and Kyouya (they don't have wigs yet)
Sunday: (Fairy Tail) Natsu, Gray, Erza, Lucy (Jellal and Leo in progress)
I really should get around to registering. >.> I am currently owed money by the five people in that list who aren't me (*pointed look*), so there has been a dearth of $65 registration fees in my bank account.
My 21st birthday is coming up this month... (for the non-Americans on the flist, that means I can drink legally.) I have no real desire to go out and get absolutely trashed, but I don't want to ignore it entirely, either. I'm trying to find a happy medium for this, but I'm still working on it. Right now, I'm thinking I'll just go out to dinner somewhere around home that serves alcohol and food so my baby friends/family can come out if they want to, as blah as that sounds.
For those who are still keeping track, the friend of the family who was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer in October and given a maximum of two months to live has made nearly a full recovery, for which I cannot be more grateful to both God and modern medicine. She has her last surgery coming up in a week where they're going to make sure there is no more cancer left and put her all back to rights. :D Thanks again for all your support, flist! :D
ALMOST FORGOT The Pirates of the Caribbean movie!! I seriously could write a dissertation on Captain Jack Sparrow and the ways in which I love him, but in the meantime let's just say that was a seriously awesome film :D Best since the first.
The whole CD of Born This Way is finally out! I actually paid money for it instead of downloading it and everything. Some of the songs are a little odd, imo, but I seriously love Judas and Edge of Glory, and ADORE the music video for Judas. ♥ I've only listened to the rest once through, so more detailed opinions may yet come.
