Con wrap up post
February pre con:
Leonard comes out to chillax and not too much happens aside from much much D&D and Guitar Heroing it up. We all just hang out and await Chris' arrival and the con. Not too much happened.
Thursday:
I spend the day just in general hang outtery with Leonard Chris and Joelle. We pick up Corinne from work finish packing and head out to the hotel. DC has an amazing 3-0 record against me as I drive completely around a roundabout cuz I missed my turn as well as taking the turn to the hotel too soon thus sending me back towards MD. >_< We finally get to the hotel and head in and we run into K-pac and his shlady Becca. I go to check in and find out I have the super sweet staff rate. I say something to the effect of "Next time we see Colette we need to give her a big hug." As I say this, Colette walks up to the front desk and begins to check in herself. Leonard kindly points her out to me and I feel like an ass. Reguardless we introduce ourselves to Colette and get back into her good graces if ever we were out of them. The GOtaku assemble into my hotel room and we hang out until badge pickup time. We get to badge pick up only to find out that Leonard and our associates were the only ones with badges ready. They forgot Chris' and Corinne's badge and K-pac and myself had to come back to get pics taken. We do so and head back to the room for more hangoutery til I fall asleep.
Friday:
I get up ass early (5:30 AM I think it was) to head to Waldorf to take Corinne to work. The guy at the parking booth tells me how to get to the beltway....failing to tell me I can't take the left turn he told me to take. So once again I get lost in DC and magically Corinne pulls out some wicked ninja skills and gets us on the road which dumps us out onto the beltway. However we are about 20-25 miles north of our exit >_< I get her to work 15 minutes late and hit home and try to take a nap. I fail miserably. I grab some sodas and a cake for Joelles birthday and head back to the con. I meet up with the group in the hotel room and we hit the dealers room about an hour before it opened (thank you staff badge). I nab some sweet princess mononoke figures for Corinne and 3 DS games for me: Jump Superstars, Beat Brothers, and the kickass cheerleading game I will never be able to remember the name of. From that point on I am confined to the LARP room. Tom bring Corinne to the con and she hits the dealers room. The LARP closes and we hang out and just bullshit before heading to bed.
Saturday:
More dealers room. More LARP room. I try my best to spend time with Corinne hanging out in the hotel room after the disappointing showing of Howl's Silent Castle. We watched a movie and got room service. Chris showed up and we headed off to the MC Chris concert. After a bit of a snafu this security guy lets us bypass the line due to our staff badges. Another security guy wont let us in because they were cleaning up the previous event even after we offered to help. After seeing about 2 groups of 3-4 staffers just walk in I said "Fuck it, I'm fuckin chug-a-luggin." and walked right in with Chris and Leonard right behind me. Colette sees us and immediately heads in our direction. Oh shit was all I could think until she spoke to us. "You guys just totally cut in line." We all laughed and just shot the shit with her for a few seconds. She even semi promoted us to security for the concert. The three of us took literally fromt row center standing about 3 feet away from the stage. MC Chris came out and said we could move up. We did. We were as close to the stage as you could get. MC Chris grabbed Leonard's head and made him give him fake fellatio during the first song. Leonard played it off by wiping the fake jizsm off of his mouth. The concert was fucking great. We then waited in line to get his autograph. He signed my badge and 2 of his cd's I bought at the table. We went back to the room and hung out until we crashed.
Sunday:
Dealers room one mroe time and LARP wrap up. People enjoyed themselves but not as much as last year apparently. I added an extra night to our room but not at the staff rate >_< The GOtaku then went to the Hard Rock for some good times and good food. We said goodbye to heather and dan and went to the room to crash.
Monday:
We get up at 6:00 to check out and take Corinne to work followed immediately by taking Chris and Joelle to BWI. The rest of the day goes as normal.
Tuesday-today:
Late Tuesday I got a really high fever and a bad cough. Apparently I am not the only one and this strain of los palagas has been caught by many a con goer and staffer alike. I am thuroughly wiped out and Tom and Gary come over tuesday and wednesday and play pitch. Leonard and I play the cheerleading game and try noy to implae our DS' on our stylus. I took leonard to BWI yesterday and said bye to him and headed back home. As usual, I felt like a terrible host. Working for the first part of the visit and catching los palagas for the second. At least it waited until the con was over.
Well thats all I can think of.....for now though....courage.
