So its time for me to talk about something that I'm sure none of you have thought about (and possibly even care about) but I think about every single day...  What Dan is eating.

And let me start by saying that yesterday I went to see the movie Food, Inc. and I can see how many of you would think that all of this is a direct result of seeing this ( Read more... )

Honestly, and maybe its just my perspective from being in the military, but no amount of dieting can compare to exercise. That is not to say exercising is an excuse to eat whatever the fuck you want.
Not everyone loves running, I know I hate it, and I know you go on awesome long walks, which are great for your metabolism, but maybe try looking into biking? Cardio is the bees-knees of health. I don't care if you dance, run, bike, swim, whatever. The trick is getting your heart rate up and KEEPING it there. Thats where DDR suffers in that aspect, it breaks you between songs (its still way better than nothing).

THAT being said, your diet choices are still awesome and I applaud you for it!
I know what its like to be heavy and have to loose a lot of weight/ watch everything you eat. I'm currently hitting that wall myself. Not because I'm unhealthy, but because I want to go a little further and get more out of what I put into my body.
Meaning, things like soda, and fast-food I want to kick from my diet more and more. Fast food has basically been killed, but I still eat fast food like 3 meals a week (currently the numbers are screwed up because of my living situation, so more like 1x a day... I can only eat so much PB&J) but my soda consumption has gone up a lot an I'm in the process of curbing that.
Again, not so much because I *need* to, but because I want to be healthier.
I've never really been into the full vegitarian thing, but eating fruits and vegitibles are really, really important to the body. That is what most Americans fuck up IMO. Meat is fine, but not when its the ONLY thing you eat (and deep-fried anything has no healthy aspects to it).

Here's a recommendation for awesome trail mix.
Raisins, sun dried banana chips and mixed unsalted nuts (or any nut you prefer)
Mix 1 part banana, 2 part nuts, 1-2 parts raisins (I kinda dig raisins a lot so I go 2 parts)
Yeah nuts are high in fat but the body can process and burn the natural "healthy" fat very easily compared to fats from meats.
If I became a vegitarian I'd live off pickles and nuts...

I do love my nuts! (rofl)

Lol thanks for the kind words man... yeah I'm happy with my current exerscise treatment... tho when Im up north an have acess to a track I might pick that up again because believe it or not I'm finding I have too much extra energy and I think I can put that to better use... (Also just fyi ddr has a non-stop setting so I can dance for an hour straight with very minimal stops)

And I wish you luck with your plans to eat healthier too... best advice I got is just to drop the fast food and soda asap you'll be better off and I know that might not be possible given your current living situations and stuff but yeah IMO even just taking note and watching how much of these places you eat and what you eat at them and then trying to reduce that gradually is a good start to keep you thinking about health
