Yes. A person died. Yes, he had a family. Yes I feel sad for them, and in general that someone died. Yes, he contributed a ton to shape the modern computing world.
However, he was still a prick. A gigantic one. He fucked over Steve Wozniak (Look him up), treats his own employees like shit, did not give a single cent to charity (Don't try the 'have you?' argument. That is irrelevant. This is about him, a person with infinite resources who could make a gigantic difference with a simple writing of a check. Just about every other Silicon Valley CEO contributed to society this way. Not this guy.), and was about one of the biggest offenders in regards to what freedoms a person can have when it comes to what he or she can do with his computer/electronic device. The guy went after people who wrote up their own homebrew software for- really, just about anyone who dared express themselves the way he claimed they all could with his products.
He's not the only famous tech revolutionary to be guilty of this sort of thing. Thomas Edison was one of the few people who could easily trump Jobs in the levels of dickery he indulged in. Electrifying a live elephant to discredit Nikolai Tesla? Smooth move, tex.
Basically, just remember him as a deeply flawed human being who helped shape our modern computing world into what it is today. Was he hipster Jesus? Fuck no.
