I'm fine with it. He's honoring the soldiers who fought for the Confederacy. That doesn't necessarily equate to them being Pro-Slavery. Most Confederate soldiers didn't even own slaves; they were too poor to. Only a select few in the richest echelons of Southern Society did, and they were the ones who ran the Confederate movement in the first place. THOSE people shouldn't be honored at all. The Confederacy as a cause was morally bankrupt for supporting slavery.

Anyway, the Confederate soldiers themselves fought for a myriad of reasons. The biggest one I could think of was simply defending to fight their lands against an invading army. Anyone would. I don't blame them and I also honor them for it. As it stands, though, they were just a bunch of mostly poor people fighting against their own interests because a few rich white men at the top wanted to keep their free workforce. It's a damn shame the war even had to happen to begin with.

For the record, I think both sides, the Scholars and Daughters of the Confederacy are being idiots. Scholars are being retarded for lumping in the soldiers with the Confederacy itself and treating them all as a bunch of slave-lovers who don't deserve any sort of recognition. The Daughters are stupid for trying their hardest to whitewash Slavery and pretend that the conflict wasn't about it. At all.
