Last night was lovely! I had a formal date with James, complete with super-good lookin' clothes (the both of us) and a bouquet of red and orange roses. I can't really remember the last time we've done so. We went out to Cuisine Malaya on Elizabeth Avenue, across the street from Central Piedmont Community College, and next to SK NetCafe. It holds a dim, somewhat secluded atmosphere, is pretty closeby, and has some of the most delicious and artfully presented sushi. Hmm... next time, maybe I'll get some wine.
Afterward, we made our way to the Matthews dollar theater, and saw "The Pursuit of Happyness," a film that encourages the viewer that though life may throw you down hard (particularly financially, above all), if you are determined enough, and dedicated enough to overcome whatever obstacles lay before you, you'll get through one way or another. I thought this especially good of James to see with me, knowing he's been going through a lot financially, straight out of school, and trying to find his way on his own. It was my hope it may prove as a small encouragement of sorts in light of everything. Funny thing, before going into the theater, I had another one of those random sightings of someone (an employee behind the counter) recognize me from Northwest School of the Arts. He said he had been in one of the lower grades, but thought he remembered seeing me in the halls. :) It's always nice to be remembered. We had so much fun goofing around and showing off in our usual overly-dramatic fashion towards he and his fellow co-workers, after we'd already paid for the movie, I was re-thinking whether I just wanted to goof around and play, or actually go see it! I think this was the first time we'd gone out to a movie with just the two of us. I could get used to this. ;) We almost had the whole theater to ourselves! Upon recommedation of James, before leaving, I gave one of my roses to an elderly woman holding a little one, wishing her a good evening. Random acts of kindness truly make life beautiful.
Thus, the evening ended in lots of cuddles and kisses, and all-round feelings of warm fuzzies.
In the future, I'm looking forward to discovering somewhere that has live music, light yet filling good-for-you food, and a classy atmosphere. Anyone know of some super-good place to eat here in Charlotte they might recommend? I've been looking around on Charlotte Citysearch and Creative Loafing, but I'm not sure what might be best. I've gotten too comfortable with my usual spots and am looking forward to trying something totally different.
