i was flipping through a book review journal today and came across an entry for Blue Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami, seems like an interesting read and i am certain it will become the next Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter … and Spring, 3-Iron, The Way Home - esque critically acclaimed, but limited run, seldom seen by audiences, but required viewing indie darling (aren't all foreign, or domestic, and dare i say well scripted films, regardless of budget or media exposure, labeled "indie" these days??) .
However, it wasn't what the review had to say about what the book is that necessarily caught my attention, in actuality it was what the reviewer said the book isn't that had me at a pause:

[Blue Willow, Sleeping Woman] translates across the Pacific in the year 2006 much better than tales of samurai geishas with ninja lovers on sake binges with feudal wasabi sex toys...
[end quote]
did i miss something? what book and / or film features debaucheries of fermented rice brew and the spicy japanese member of the cabbage family, featured so ubiquitously as a sushi topping, used as a sexual aid, and, if it exists, where may i ask does one acquire such book or film?
freakin' hilarious....
