Reflections on a post from about a year ago...
Well, it looks like I've wondered back to LJ, again.
For good? Ha. You should know me better.
Anyhoo, I was looking through recent/old posts to find what tidbits of writting for my novels I've left lying around (most are private or custom friends-only). While doing this I stumbled on an entry I had made when I had a burst of enthusiam about my life. It was written approx a year a ago.
I had written a list of goals I was convinced I was going to accomplish soon or just in my life. And I wanna adress them :3
I'm going to get all my comissions done and have enough money for the cosplays and cons this year~!
Yes I did get my commissions done, which all looked lovely, and that combined with PNE pay and house sitting I totally made enough money to go to Aki Con and do the cosplay I wanted for it. It also paid for my new school books and floated me through the school year (including eating out on occason, drinking once in a while, knicks and knacks, project materials for school, etc). I'm still kinda floating on it now. Like how a drowning person holds onto some flotsam. Anyways, this goal was hit!
The FFFT is going to go to more cons and become huge~!
Well, yes and no. The FFFT didn't make it to anymore cons this year, but it has grown in size and following and looks like this coming year will be waaaay bigger and badder than ever before!
I'm going to win the scholarship to study fashion in Japan~!
This... is the one thing that didn't happen at all. In fact, I didn't even try for the scholarship. Why? I couldn't tell you. Gut feeling told me to stay put. So I'm gonna wait this one out, I have no regrets!
I'm going to get amazing marks in school and impress all the professionals~!
TOTALLY NAILED THIS ONE. My marks weren't that amazing, but all my teachers love me, gave me great feedback... my one teacher who is actively designing introduced me to others as someone whose "name will be in lights". WHAT. Who says that about a student ever?! <3
I'm going to do an amazing job designing costumes for my first film (student film xP)~!
Well, first, see above, second... I was given the show the teachers thought would be the biggest challenge for costumes and I rocked that bitch. My teachers loved it and as a result I even won the highest award for a costume student "MVP" for the motion picture arts school. I kick much ass.
I'm going to work professionally on set next summer~!
While I would not call myself a pro yet, I have already worked 3 sets this summer, one of them being a short film crewed by real industry professionals! I rubbed some serious shoulders!
I'm going to make amazing costumes cosplay and not!
Okay, this is where the goals become more general. I have made some nifty costumes in the past year, but not too many, not as much as I would like anyways. Lots of good PIECES, but not full costumes yet.
I'm going to publish all my books!
They will be best sellers!
Yeah, well, not much closer to that.
I will get my video game idea pitched and made!
It freaks me out that this is on the list. More to come...
I'm going to be a sought after costume designer!
I'm going to open a fashion label on the side!,
I'm going to travel and have my sheep farm and everything~~!
Lifelong goals :D I'll get them!
