Summary: Neji hides his face in the morning.
When Neji wakes up in the morning he always hides his face. Whether it’s in a pillow or his hair or Tenten’s back (never Lee because the lotus gets up long before he or Tenten) doesn’t particularly matter. As long as, for just those few extra seconds, he can believe that he is safe and the world is sane and maybe fate hasn’t been out to get him ever since his father was born second.
He clutches at Tenten’s shoulder so that she doesn’t move. She pauses for those moments, one two three, and then he lets her up. They never mention it because it is one of those few times they allow themselves to be in love.
