Ah, the life of an adult

I remember the care free days when a mid-week holiday meant a day of frivolity. And now I use it as an opportunity to get done the more mundane chores that I've been putting off for months. Yay for cleaning off the junk and clutter from the top of my dresser and spending 4 hours on various clothes mending projects. And yay for having freshly mopped floors. I spent so much time cooped up in the apartment in one day that by dinner time I was going stir crazy, but I still had homework to complete. Luckily Matt was wonderful and helped me talk out my homework assignment to get it done quickly and then we went out shopping. I went overboard at Barnes and Noble buying children's books for a baby shower. It felt good. All children should own the classics: Berenstain Bears, Little Critter, The Runnaway Bunny, Golden Books, Dr. Seuss, and about a hundred others. Maybe if/when I ever get pregnant I will ask for a book shower so that I will have all those wonderful books myself and won't have to subject my child to Sponge-Bob, or books based on the latest inane children's movies.

The best part about last night was coming home from shopping to watch Glee! It has been pre-empted by baseball for the past two weeks and I was going crazy without my fix. I don't think I realized that I was a true fan of the show until I missed it two weeks in a row. Up to that point I had been on the fence. I think the episode where the football team performs the Single Ladies dance is what tipped me over the edge. Men dancing to Beyonce will never cease to be amusing to me.

Tonight I'm trying out another new recipe: Barefoot Contessa's Italian wedding soup. I bought the ingredients almost a week ago, but haven't had time to commit to the kitchen for more than an hour. I'm excited and hopefully it goes well. Then I shall freeze portions of it for the next month. Huzzah!
