Bleah.

As my solace, at least I am among the last of my friends to succumb to this bout of the common cold. When I heard even my dad had a sore throat, I felt like at least my immune system had put up a good fight. (My father gets sick maybe once every 5-10 years. He's always claimed that it's the sauerkraut.)

But yeah, sick. And this would be a whole lot easier if I had one of those jobs where no one's education was potentially compromised if you failed to show up to work. Despite normally being a rational human being who knows her limits and understands the spread of infection... yeah, I went to work. I managed 3 out of my 4 shifts, thanks to help from my dad and Ken who drove me since the cold kept making me cough uncontrollably.

Yeah, I'm looking forwards to being able to take the bus for free all this week, now that they're off strike.

I bailed on my last shift, leaving a note telling students to talk with the other TA. I felt guilty, but with only ~10 students, they could all easily fit into the one tutorial room so I referred them to the other TA.

Despite several days with plenty of sleep, I'm still feeling pretty rotten. My abs/diaphragm are sore from so much coughing, as are random muscles throughout my body, the congestion in my ears is so severe that it leaves a constant ache, my throat still hurts, and although the dizzy spells have cut back considerably, there's still the odd moment where the world spins.

Once again, I say: bleah.

Still, I think I'm on the mend, since i can stay awake more than a few hours a time and can even stand up for more than a few minutes, so it's back to writing today. Or rather re-writing. Let's see if I can make a more positive rah rah intro while I'm feeling totally miserable. Great idea, eh? ;)
