Weekend, cold, and sewing

Weekend was kinda nice, but the actual nice part was the Saturday party for
the_ginger_cat's birthday. That was a 21st, and I start getting an idea of what 21sts are for Kiwis. Though I'm not sure why it is 21st so important, as I thought the legal age for everything is 18, but maybe 21 has some special traditional meaning?

Party was fun, and I got to wear my elf ears that I haven't been wearing for two years. Plus, I put on black tight-fitting pants, black knee-high boots, and black tunic with side cuts almost till the belt, decorated with silver tape all around. The people on party recognized me as an "Elf Jedi", probably some sort of cross-breeding thing;-)))) There were a lot of people in all sorts of cool costumes, and I think I knew more than half of them (meaning people, not costumes), which makes me think I'm rather socially involved. There were very touchy speechs (squee!), lotsa yummy food (ah, those cream thingies...), lotsa dancing and other fun. I didn't quite understand why by the end of the evening most of men have gone topless, but apparently it had some sense for them... And seeing
xepera_xeper dancing on his crutches made it so clear to me why people call him "crazy Russian".
_steelphoenix_ with her Green Fairy costume was just squee! I kept walking around all evening, touching her big wings, they were hilarious. And so was the costume she made for her friend, squee for sewing! drrugg was a cool cardinal, giving me lotsa St Wolfgang memories;-) Gosh, I think half of my flist was there!

My throat felt strange on Saturday night, and on Sunday it became obvious I have a cold. So I'm using Russian traditional way to fight it now, and also gonna buy those home shoes when I get money, I should have done it long ago but couldn't find a decent ones, and now I have to get any, as it's just too cold. Currently I'm sneezing and keeping tissues and Panadol close, as the cold brings a lot of headache. Even a bit of dizziness, so should be careful.

I've finished boning my wench corset, so next step will be cutting the other layers for it. Probably wool for inside and linen for both sides, though I'm still considering adding another layer on the outside. There will be a lot of handsewing to do, which is good as handsewing is a good stress-reliever for me.

By the way, I have finally decided how to make a chemise for my wench costume. I'm gonna use this pattern, as it's the closest to what I was looking to get. It also offers a drawstring for the neckline, which should make it adjustable in size, and so less worries for me that it'll be too big or too small. Draping isn't easy. I think it might be one of those chemises that are good for erotic undressing - you untie the string in front, and the chemise gracefully falls down;-))) Which means I'll have to find a string that can hold ties well;-))) Though in game the chemise will also be held by the corset, so I should be safe and decent;-)
