Hokay, so a couple of weeks ago Darby tells me about this job that might be going in the Wardroom at HMS Sultan, where he’s head chef. It’s essentially a gloryfied Kitchen Porter, but hey. The job was a guarenteed 35 hours a week, slightly higher wage than the Co-Op and I wouldn’t have to deal with bullshit like arsehole managers and people threatening to kill me.
It wasn’t going to start until the new year so I wasn’t going to hand in my notice until the middle of December, however I had a complete bollocks Saturday the other week which culminated in a group of piss heads throwing things around the shop including a metal hook that nearly hit me. So…I thought. Darby said he’d sort out bringing the job forward, and he did, The job starts next Monday.
This Monday I handed in my notice, then walked out of work, when I realised that I couldn’t handle working at the Co-Op any more. It’s just an unacceptable amount of BS. My letter cited the incidents that I’ve had since I’ve been there (a couple of knife incidents, a syringe, a druggie prossy spitting in my face and assault with a deadly ice cream…that kind of thing) and how I’ve never had any real support from the Society etc etc, and it wasn’t until I had it all written down in front of me that I realised how much shit I’ve actually dealt with, with surprisingly good humour. And it wasn’t until Darby said I could have this job next Monday that I realised exactly how much I wanted to get out of the Co-Op. So new job next week…which leads me into my next piece of news.

I’ve ordered my new bike today. Darby and I went over to Gosport Halfords and ordered this shiny silver thing with suspension and stuff, I wasn’t really sure but it’s a fantastic deal, hopefully I’m gonna be able to keep hold of this one without being in any kind of road accident of having it stolen.

And finally, I’m still waiting on a reply from the financial services people at the OU, but since I sent off my financial assistance pack with plenty of time to spare and both the website and the nice people on the OU helpline told me that I should qualify for full assistance, I’m hoping that come February I’ll be starting my first unit in a BA/BSc (Open) course, which will be: Working with our environment: technology for a sustainable future…

This course will suit you if you are concerned about your own impacts on the environment, about global environment issues, and the role of technology in creating a sustainable future. It provides an ideal introduction to the Environmental Studies and International Studies degree and many higher-level technology courses, as well as some courses in science, social science and business studies. Its themes are You and the environment, Travelling light, Food chains and Thinking globally, supported by files on Energy, Resources and Human and ecosystem health

How awesome does that sound? I know! Totally!

Yeah….things are looking good.

Oh, but I have a cold, that sucks.

Don’t cry for my shitty Co-Op, The truth is I fucking hate you
