I can now take Zane on trips in a bike trailer. It's really, really good to be able to get more than walking distance from the house. I'm also really glad that it's no longer lethally hot, so walking distance is more than half a mile.
Zane's been eating fruit since the Albuquerque trip. He eats bananas, and he crushes orange slices in his mouth, letting some of the juices run down his throat. He's started also eating things I cook. He eats quesadillas and cheese omelets. With both of those, I cut them into tiny strips that he dantily picks up and chews from one end a little like spaghetti. He doesn't close his mouth or use his lips, so half to two thirds of what he eats ends up elsewhere.
Zane's babbling more often than not. He's narrowing in on English phonemes, so he says things that someone other than H.P. Lovecraft could transcribe. Sometimes it seems to make sense. Twice yesterday, he ran after a cat yelling, "Ka-ka-kaaat!" He'll blow a raspberry back if I blow one at him.
He loves phones. I was worried I was raising a future telemarketer when I realized that Zane is obsessed with everything we talk to: cats and phones being the top things besides Zane himself and eachother.
