It is just when all is quiet that I have come to the realization that in these times of peace...more are disappearing every day. Losing friends may be worse than any embarrassment the island is able to deal out, but at least we can believe they are at home, where hopefully they are safe.

I doubt that many places have that level of "magic."

But I mean compared to other worlds, too. Like, I'm pretty sure we don't have shinigami or people turning into guns. At least, not that I know of.

The only real magic I know of is what Maya and Pearl can do, the spirit channel thing, though I've never seen it, and also what Polly, daddy, and I can do, which is just being good at knowing when someone is lying.

I'm not even sure the second one counts, but it seems kind of magical.

No, I think spirit channeling is different than that. I haven't really seen it in action, but it's like talking to dead people.

And yeah, that's what I mean. We're good at telling when people are lying to us.
