The national moa population has grown by a factor of a million, to stem the insidious tide of large supposedly extinct bipeds The Department of Conservation has resorted to resurrecting Haast's Eagle using a mix of cloning and Black Magic.
Unfortunately the use of sheep's blood in the procedure has resulted in the birth of a kind of Gryphon unique to New Zealand.
The creature is five feet long, tortoise shell patterned, has a woolly undercarriage and large Talonesque hooves along with a a horned beak. It demeanor is erratic to say the least, while predominantly docile is prone to bout of random violent rampages which have been deemed the entire reason for the apparent desertion of Gore, one should take into account all the blood and guts all over the place although this is not in the least surprising considering the atavistic nature of the now missing population.
