H'okay. I've recently gotten the urge to start running again and would *love* to do another marathon. The problem? The only actual marathon in Chicago is on October 7th this year. Why is that a problem, you ask? Since it's not terribly far away, and it is rather large, the open memberships are closed. Does that mean I can't run? Why no, no it does not. I would need to find someone to sponsor me to run in the race, of the 85 charities participating in the race.
I found a super awesome charity that I'd love to work with called "Equine Dreams." It's a therapeutic horseback riding facility. This brings me to the crux of my problem. To be sponsored, I would have to raise $950 for the charity before October 7th. This isn't actually a lot for a team sponsorship actually. So before I make any final arrangements, I wanted to test the waters, so to speak. If I were to run, would anyone be willing to donate to Equine Dreams? And does anyone have any other ideas on how to collect donations? A lot of people I know around here are pretty involved with the local fur community, does anyone think a request for donations would be well received?
I have little doubt that I'll actually be able to finish the race, but I won't be breaking any records or anything. I just mostly want to run. Does anyone want to train with me a bit? (besides
mtrsknightshade, I know you said you'd run with me.)
