Today I bring fanfic recs, because I am in an expansive and giving mood but have nothing of my own to offer.
To start, a Torchwood rec.
C12H22011, by
3jane. Jack/Ianto, PG-13. It’s about aliens and sugar and something nice coming out of the Rift, for the first and only time in the history of the universe.
And it's just there. Luminous in the corridor lights. Faintly blue-orange-silver. Almost remarkable inhuman, except for the fetal curl of the body and the crackle along Ianto's nerves that might be crying.
Next, a Psych rec. Do any other Psych fans read this journal? It’s a fluffy crime-solving show. The main pairing in fandom seems to be Shawn/Lassiter, which I don’t understand, because Shawn/Gus is so clearly superior.
Anyway, the rec:
Say I Love to Play by
peganix. Shawn/Gus, slash or pre-slash, PG-13. Because it’s funny and sweet. Gus is especially well-written (the poor guy often gets short shrift, because he’s not nearly as distinctive as Shawn, I guess).
"Lassiter?" Gus asked, voice a little high.
"Yes, Gus," Shawn said, playing on the edge of exasperation. "I see the smoldering tension between you! The way he growls your name- big tough policeman wooing you into a dangerous life of high pursuit! And violence!"
"Who exactly," Gus paused to listen to the boots stomping by their hiding place, the sound of someone clicking off the safety on a pistol, "is wooing me into a life of danger?"
And, lest I be accused of reading nothing but slash, a Veronica Mars rec.
Lifetime Piling Up by
thingswithwings. Veronica/Mac, PG-13. (It’s femmeslash! That’s a totally different thing from slash!) Funny and sweet and sad and dark, just like the show.
"A stakeout? Really?" Veronica slumps in the passenger seat and squints suspiciously. "You do realise that I'm willing to associate with you even if there's no case involved, right?"
On the topic of V. Mars fanfic, if anyone knows any good Veronica//Logan fic I’d like to read it. LoVe fic tends to be either really fluffy or really dark, and I’m not really fond of either approach.
